Click when accelerating

I have a single click noise when accelerating at speeds 30mph+ only after coasting any ideas??

Could it be the AC coming on and off ?? without a drive to hear the noise i have no idea at all ,which is not the answer your after i know you want to know where and how hard to hit something with the hammer to cure it so best advice i can offer is to ask a local mechanic to have a look and post the result so to speak for a possible confirmation

Sounds (pun intended) like a problem with the differential (that globe that connects to the drive-shaft and to the two rear tires. Maybe, one wheel has bad bearings, adding resistance into the differential.

Noise from the rear of the car


pitch higher with the speed is just plain annoying
30 mph is mostly in traffic speed

what car and make
fwd or rear diff driven

if noise was not there before tyre change
but is there now
hard to narrow down the possibles in a forum

2004 CTS - Occassional whine noise under coast.


Hey Gary, take your car and get the transmission fluid and filter changed immediately... you will be glad you did...(expensive lessons speaking!!!)
