Bent valve noise doesn't go away. If it clatters when you start it and goes away( most of the time) after a few seconds. You are low on oil and just put more in it when cold.

SOURCE: bent valves

Yes--- because you have an interference engine

The belt breaks or strips teeth & the pistons hit
the valves

Some engines are not interference, most are

You got major damage to heads or at least the valves

Have an 06 Ra Holden rodeo v6 3.5 petrol. A very loud knocking noise has started, it has lost a bit of power. The noise seems to be louder when I rev the car. What could be the problem?

knocking usually called rod knock --possible spun a bearing on crank -other wrist pin damaged --piston rings damaged --other possible valve drop or bent ---need to do a compression check --to see which cylinder is causing problem

Valve tap cause

Most engines now use hydraulic lifters and they can leak a little, this causes space between then lifter and the push rod. This results in a tapping noise that goes away when they get warm or fill back up.

Engine valve or liter noise

It could possibly be a bent connecting rod, a bent / broken pushrod, broken spring, loose rocker or even a loose nut...

Hope this helps.....

The statement is really vague. What kind of noise? It could be a wide range of possibilities from a dry motor, lifters to bent valves to pistons to burnt out a/c compressor to bad water pump impeller to bad pulley bearings... loose exhaust manifold cover...

Y wife was driving our 04 pt cruiser and it stalled at alight, then a stop sign but started back up. Then a few miles later she pulled over to the side to let someone pass and the low rpm's made it stall...

Will not make any noise when valve's get bent, piston just hit's it enough to bent then, this is an interference engine, which the possibility of piston to valve damage in the event of timing belt failure is most likely to occur, also while in there doing repair's, I would also replace water pump, due to it's timing belt driven.

Engine is rattling

check oil pressure possible valve tapping -start vehicle and open hood if the noise is on top and sounds like metal tapping u may have a problem with a bad lifter ,oil pressure not lubing head, bent valve/push rod, loose rocker arm. if noise towards front check belts and pulleys-power steering level

Timing belt broken

this is an interference (valves hit the pistons) engine and will cause engine damage if the belt brakes, the best thing to do is put the belt on and see if it starts, I have seen some dodge the bullet on occasion. In most cases u will hear nothing, the engine will just stop running.

put a new belt on and try it,its a possibility that valves have cleared on your model.not all engines will knock valves through pistons .
