Have your diagnostic codes read for possible malfunctions. If there are no codes, check all your vacuum lines for proper routing and connections. Sounds to me like some trouble codes may come up.
Ever used a vacuum gauge? Very helpful in determining the health of your engine, and locating problems. I'd also recommend a compression test of your cylinders. Then you'll have a good idea how strong your engine is, in case you are wondering if you are pouring money into a dubious venture.
