Re: Mazda 323 Has spark, fuel, timing belt ok, does not...
Check timing belt timing on the cam gear and crank gear. if timing belt has 60000 miles or more. if they dont break first. they stretch enough jump out of time.

step 1check for spark take off coil lead then unscrew plug pop the plug back into the lead and hold it to the block turn the car over if it sparks then you know there ok step 2 fuel... turn on reds on dash the listen out for a buzzing sound this would be fuel pump if no sound fuel pump could be faulty hence why car won't start!
Hi!!
If the timing is not off, it is probably not the timing belt. The first thing you should do is to change the spark plugs, dist. cap and rotor (if equipped), If the problem does not go away, check the fuel pump pressure. On those vehicles, when the fuel pump is quitting, it starts like that, then runs for an hour and quits for 30 min. until it quits for good.
Autozone, Checkers and similar auto parts stores lend Fuel Pump Pressure Testers, ask the attendant what the correct PSI for your pump should be. Here is a diag. on how to connect the tester

Last week my 323 89' Mazda stop working as I was driving it in middle of the street, I pushed to the side. it would not start, the starter sounded ok, but the car just didnt start, I checked the fuses, gas pump, and all seemed to be ok, finally with the help of a friend we found out that the ignition rotor at the distributor wasnt working we then replace it with a new one from autozone , is about 5 dollars, now it works just fine, big problem easy solution.
