Question about 2007 Mini Cooper Convertible

1 Answer

Brake pad light still on after pads were replaced.

This is a 2007 Mini Cooper S, JCW, sidewalk edition with a GPS where the speedometer usually is. Speedometer is in front of steering wheel. Have seen video where you press the reset button to show the indicater/warning lights and a BS button at the same time to reset the brake pad warning light to off but I'm not sure where the BS or reset buttons are to try this procedure.

If you didn't replace the brake pad wear sensor, you wont be able to reset the light. if you did and it still doesn't reset, you need to get into the maintenance system with a scanner, (your local garage should be able to do it) and reset the brake pad wear counter

2004 Mini CooperS- brake service light stays on

Did they replace the brake pad wear sensor? If so, try leaving the key in the on postion for 30-45 seconds (dont start the car) This is how we reset the lights on BMW's and the Mini's use a similar system for service lights

2002 Mini Cooper Brake Disc Wear

it may be time for new brake pads, and you usually want to replace your rotors when you change pads, you can get away with not doing and instead take it to a shop and get them "turned"

if you want to see for yourself if it's time for new brake pads just remove one of your wheels and look at your brake pads (they are the what actually make contact with your rotor) and if the pad itself is less than the width of about 2 or three credit cards, then it's time for new pads.

hope that was helpful....good luck!

Mini cooper Warning lights for abs, low tire, traction comes on

Ok, check the brake fluid level for a start. This could mean a few things. Your brake pads might be worn down, which would bring a yellow warning light on(triangle), at the same time with the pads being low it will have displaced the fluid, making the level low, this would be a red light on. Now because of this the body control module has detected these faults, will have turned the abs off, hence the abs light.
If brake fluid is low, this could confirm my theory.
If its low, top up with dot 5 brake fluid and take to garage to have new pads fitted.

What does this warning light mean?

you're do for brake service. either the front or rear brake pads have worn down to
minimum. if when you apply the brakes you don't feel pulsation, just replace the brake pads and sensors and that will take care of the light.
