I have a 1996 izuzu trooper, I need to disconnect the ABS motor it constantly runs and kills my battery. I need to disconnect so I can get to a mechanic and get it fixed. How do I do this?

You don't as it is computer controled. If you disconnect it will not run.
That is why it is called anti theft. The dealer might have a way of by passing it but they are supposed to re hook it when finished.

According to Valvoline website you will use approximately 4 quarts. They recommend ATF4 transmission fluid. Use the dip stick to check the level of the fluid.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE VECHICLE TOWED IN TO A GARAGE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS TURN OFF RADIO TO KEEP FROM LOSING THE CODE, THEN DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE TO KEEP FROM DRAINING THE BATTERY.IF YOU DISCONNECT ABS BRAKE MODULATOR UNIT FUSE AND RELAY YOU CANT DRIVE VECHICLE UNTIL TOW IN FIX,YOU NEED DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT TO FIX VECHICLE.NOT A HOME FIX.

This is just a traction control light.....If one wheel out spins the other it will make it come on at times ..You need a scan tool but you can disconnect the negative battery cable for 20 seconds and the light will go off......If it comes on again you will have to change wheel speed sensor...This is common with all vehicles with Traction control and ABS...Have it checked for saftey reasons...
But it happens with a lot of them.........Sensor replacement is normally what you have to do.
Sometimes battery disconnect works....You will have to reset clock.

Automatic transmissions all use ATF fluid. Select a known brand, preferably one that is manufactured and marketed by one of the big name petroleum companies.

Did you find out a solution to your problem? I have a 1996 trooper that is showing most of the same symptoms that you have. I'm curious as to your fix. Was it simply a bad ground?

start with pulling the fuel pump relay!!
this should kill the power to the pump and save your battery,
so well pulling the fuse but pull and test the relay,, it may have got to hot. if it checks good and clicks when you plug it back in!![key off]
then there is a short in the ignition to relay circuit

Its behind a little panel just above the hood release

look under hood for relay .first disconnect battery besure turn off radio so you wont lose your code.find relay replace it .it is stuck close causing it to keep running.draining battery.

Need to have the Coil packs and the Ignition Control Module tested at someplace like auto-zone. I'm willing to bet thats your problem.
