Alternator is good, battery is good, but battery light still comes on, what is problem?


I need year--make--model to try to look up wiring diagram for your vehicle charging system?
In the past, I've had auto stores tell me my generator was working properly. I had already tested it, I knew it was faulty. When he said it was good, I asked to look at his test meter and he went to backing up, wouldn't let me see it. He finally admitted the rebuilt generator was faulty. He said he didn't have another that would fit my vehicle, it was still under warranty, needless to say, I never went back there again. I'm not saying that all auto stores would do that? I'm just saying if you can test your charging system, yourself, it does help.

Where is the alternator fuse for a 2005 mod landcruiser sahara?


Hi Charles
I haven't seen an Alternator with a Fuse.
They Generate 35-55 or more Amps and are usually connected directly to the Battery Positive. Check at Alt. Main Terminal with MultiMeter. Check for Good Ground.


The small wire on the back of the alternator often comes from Ignition Key + to control the charge rate.
The Modern Alt. also has an internal Regulator Circuit to control charge rate.

If trying to save money.... Alternators can be split open on the Bench and repaired. Just put a mark across joint before opening.
Use a brush hook (make one) to hold brushes back while re assembling.

Items to watch for:
Brushes Worn Out - no juice to Rotor to excite (generate)
Diodes Blown - (Multimeter Test on Diode Function for shorts / open. Simple Unsolder, Press out & replace
Regulator Blown - Buy replacement
Stator Coils Corroded or Shorted/Open or bad solder joints.

Remove Alternator & Bench Test.

1978 chev k10 alternator output 14.4 on bench, reads 9 amps on truck gauge 12.2 on ampmeter at battery with truck running why


amps reading on the truck amp meter is the current that is being generated to run everything as well as charge a battery that will be at best around 80% charged.bench testing an alternator gives these readings as the regulator is feeding into fully charged batteries with no draw on the system. When batteries are 100% charged the charge rate will be as low as 2 amps but in a car where there is a current draw for the ECM , ignition , fuel pump and what ever the alternator feeds these first before it charges a battery. You used a amp meter to get a voltage reading which is reading the voltage drop across the current draw. If you had used a voltmeter (multimeter) then you would see a voltage increase with the rpm increase. The

I have a 1985 RV Ford Econoline w/ a 460 eng.,but my problem is electrical,possibly the solenoid,which we replaced.I deduce that the solenoid could be bad,or the wrong one,because the Onan generator will...


check and make sure all batterys are good make sure alt. out put is 12.9 to 14 volts make sure charging cable from front to generator battery is working if it has a seperate charging system for generator battery or batterys,check and make sure charger is working properly if not replace charger or run no. 8 wire from front charging system to gen. battery make sure main engine is running while you start gen. after gen starts turn engine off

AMP GAUGE NOT WORKING BATTREY NOT CHARGING ALTANTIOR IS CHARGING


I'm assuming you had the alternator bench tested to know that it works.
On the truck the circuit from the gauge is what turns the alternator on.
You should have one large wire and one small with battery voltage, and the wire from the gauge is hot with the key on.
If one of the wires is not hot, you would need to check the circuit for a blown fuse or fuseable link.

no a generator will make its own power thats what made them so great hope this helps

Why isn't my trailer connector charging the RV battery? I placed a fuse in slot 106, but it still doesn't appear to be working at the factory installed pigtail.


Might want to bench test the trailer tow battery charge relay.

You can also jumper this with a wire in the relay socket, to test the wiring to the trailer tow adapter. This is relay R05
