Camry cracked crankcase

Our toyota dealership says we have a cracked crankcase on the bottom of the engine block. It started with an oil pan replacement. Then we were told the timing cover had to be resealed. Now it's the crankcase. How would this happen? Is this normal? What do we do now? Replace the engine?

SOURCE: 2.2l toyota camra engine has pressure leaking from engine when oil fill is removed from valve cover, is this normal, i also have small oil drip at pan gkt.

replace the pcv valve. If it is not working it will allow pressure to build up in the crankcase. this will cause leaks everywhere.

SOURCE: How to I replace the oil filter on a 2009 Toyota Camry V6 engine?

Under the engine in the front you will see an aluminum cover. There is a square hole that fits a 3/8 ratchet remove this first. The new filter comes with a drain adapter that snaps in the hole under the cover. This lets the oil in the housing drain. Then take a oil filter cup wrench or a big channel lock to twist of the larger portion. Then change the filter and o-ring and reinstall.Make sure the o-ring on the square drive cover is there also

How bad does it leak? Most cars eventually leak some. Adding oil now and then is cheaper than fixing a leak if its not too bad.

SOURCE: my toyota camry '95 it's leaking oil from the belt

There shouldn't be any oil behind the cover. If you have oil leaking from a crack in the timing cover you should remove the covers and investigate where the leak is from to repair it.

Oil is drpping from under my 1996 camry what could that be?.

crack in oil pan, drain plug in oil pan, filter loose.......start there and wash the car under as best as you can, then check and see if it still leaks, if its clean under the car you may be able to better locate the source

Where is oil crankcase locate under the hood

Your crankcase is also known as the oil pan. Technically it's under the hood but is most visible from under the car as it is the bottom of the engine. It's called a crankcase because the crankshaft is inside there. To get a bit more complicated though, the crankcase is also the lower part of the engine where the crankshaft actually is housed in the engine, the oil pan actually serving as a sump for the engine oil and as a cover to keep dirt, mice and zebras from getting into the engine. When someone talks about the "bottom end" of an engine they are referring to the crankshaft, connecting rods and the bearings, all which are contained in the crankcase. Your oil drain plug is always located on the bottom or around the perimeter of the bottom of the oil pan.

I took it to the college and they said that the crank case is leaking, where iz the crank case

the crankcase is the hollow part of the engine where the oil is, it is contained inside the engine block and the oil pan on the bottom of the engine, to say the crankcase is leaking is a very broad statement, You will need to narrow down where the oil is leaking out of the crankcase

Leaking oil from the engine ...camry 1996 v6 3.0L

Oil leak can be attributed to several factors.
1. Gasket failure.
2. Uncontrolled Crank case pressure Failure.

RECOMENDATION:
Tighten both the valve cover and oil pan bolts.
Replace the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve and vacuum line.,

INFO: PCV
This is a valve causes a negative vacuum on the engine while its running, As to say if it had a leak in a valve cover it should not be leaking while its running, only when the engine it turned off.

Hope this tip guides you in the correct direction to solve this problem.

92 camry 4 cylinder was running great, it got hot then shut down

If car went hot it could damage head gaskete and engine block causing it to crack. That result the compression. Loose the compression to be lost. Lost of compression will result engine to no start.
