Go for a test drive & take a mechanic along
Have them work on the misfire or other issues.

Engine misfire and transmission sluggish

you need to repair no 1 cyl. misfire it will misfire when engine load is present. if you want to test it .push brake pedal engine running and shift into forward gear and with the other foot raise rpm to 2000rpm you will feel the misfire

Vw golf m4 is misfiring

try a throttle body cleaning.
check your spark plugs by removing the cables and checking if the engine sound gets worse, if for one of them there's no difference, this one would be faulty

Car is sluggish, Low Acceleration, Check engine light flashes, Code reader indicates #1cylinder is out

Of course your car is sluggish, cylinder number one is misfiring, that is why the flashing check engine light, if you continue to drive this car this way you risk the exhayst system overheating and starting a fire. Ge the car tested for the cause of the misfire asap.

Remove the rear wheel and inspect your brake hard ware for damage and adjustment. If thats fine, inspect the shock/ strut assembly for wear.

Removing battery golf m4

before you remove the battery i suggest you buy a 5 dollar part to help you save all your memory on radio and other programmed things like the one touch window down etc. this tool uses a nine volt alkaline battery and just plus into your lighter outlet.

Clutch slipping m4 golf

Best check for this is to get the car around 30mph, put it in top gear, and floor the gas. If the clutch is going to slip, this is when it'll happen. If it slips, you'll need to replace it. If it doesn't, there's likely no issue with the clutch and you'll have to look elsewhere for the problems you're seeing.
