Question about Cars & Trucks

1994 nissan d21 3.0 skipping and burning to much fuel

During Idle truck runs good but seems to skip as if it just missed on a fire or something and over all fuel consumption stinks. I should be around 20-25 per gallon and Im way bellow. I have changed plugs, wires, distributer, cap and router. I have changed the 02 sensor, cleaned throttle body fuel filter, ran sea foam through a full tank of gas to clean injectors and replaced all vacuum lines. what am I missing?

You missing the expertise of a repair shop, that
has the proper way to diagnose & find only the main
problem, not just install parts as you did.
All you did was preventative maintenance parts,
not test for cause & solution

Check your exhaust manifold. A blown gasket or even a small crack in the manifold may cause this. Its also possible that your airflowmeter is faulty

My 96 Lumina, 3.1L has 94,000 miles and today during normal driving the service engine soon light came on and at idle the engine seems to be skipping or missing

If you know the plugs are fine then an ignition wire or a coil will cause the same symptom . If you had a code reader it would show you which cylinder is causing the miss. Beyond that a compresion test is needed.

'96 Honda Accord 4-cylinder with 233,000 miles, compression with approx. 175psi for all cylinders, 34 psi fuel pressure at idle, new distributor with cap and rotor plus new #2 injector. Problem is the car...

Well, since the spark to #2 comes from the distributor, and the others are firing, could be a bad plug wire or sparkplug. Also make sure there isnt anything down around the sparkplug that could be shorting out. I would go ahead with new plug wires for starters, as that usually gets replaced when you do the distributor and rotor. Inspect plugs too- they may need replacing.

Put a lt1 engine in 1994 caprice it skips and wont hardly go up hills and back fires

Hello! are you using the harness for that year LT1? the fuel air mixture is controled by the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, the Throttle Positioning (TPS) sensor and the Oxygen sensors...When you put your foot in it without O2 sensors there isn't any control over fuel/air mix and ignition advance if the MAP and TPS aren't connected...I'm assuming your using the LT1 ECM...Guru...saailer

Engine seemed to skip at about 70 mph and service engine light came on. Then seemed to skip several more times at different speeds. Ran fine. Just continued to skip as we drove.

hi the engine is not skipping the problem is the engine is miss firing
that is caused by a bad .spark plug or -wires-or coil pack - when was the last time the
car had a tune up . check spark plug connections

1st thing I would check is spark plugs. Sometimes they will only missfire on acceleration or under a load and fire ok at idle

Engine runs extremely rough, seems to be fuel related, new fuel pump & filter installed, pressure good, run 2 bottles of injector cleaner through. Can't get to stay running under load. 1998, chev....

Have you changed the plugs, if any are fouled out or if any are worn, it takes more to fire it under load and may be spark knocking because one of the plugs can't fire off all the gas and cause it to skip or idle rough.

At a steady speed motor skips pulls good on hills seems get worse every day

is this skip like a miss does it run rough at an idle try changing the plugs and wires cap and rotor and see if this helps also run a good fuel system treatment through the vehicles intake and gas tank and clean it out could have a lot of carbon build up in the engine this usually helps with performance issues.

Flooding out. using lots of fuel. black smoke

you could have a bad injector spider if the truck is vortec,if not look to the idle air control valve if this part is bad it won't get the right amount of air and flood the truck out, hints why you are smelling fuel, also look at to o2 sensor if this is bad the computer won't adjust the timing another reason you're smelling fuel . hope this helps you and good luck!
