Open Question

I've had a prob getting my 1992 ford explorer to get spark from the coil. I've replaced the coil, ignition relay and siliniod. Cranking but not firing. Could it be this lilttle ceramic balist that comes off the wiring harness leading into the coil?

That\'s really a Chrysler thing. In any case there is a main relay that is for power supply called an EEC relay. I have marked its location in the top picture. Not sure of all the "many parts" you have replaced so far but am going to suggest just in case you haven\'t replaced and/or check or even know about the electronic distributerless ignition system module (EDIS module). It\'s kind of hidden and is a pain because if it is the original one it\'s rivited on. It has a 12 pin connector on it and if you are getting power when the key is on to the red wire, this could be your problem assuming you have checked all the fuses and wiring snd have a good ground there. There is a pink wire so don\'t get them mixed up due the the age of your vehicle and fading. It will be in the 8th pin location not the 3rd pin where the pink wire is. Above in the other pictures is the location of the EDIS module and a good picture of what it looks like. This goes out you don\'t have your power supply to the coil. It could be the EEC replay but just throwing this out to try and help. One last thing is I would really fully diagnose things before you lose any more money on parts that are not needed. I\'ll be happy to try and help you diagnose this. Hate to see people losing money trying to fix a problem replacing not needed parts. I hope this helped you out.

Hooked battery up wrong on 1992 explorer, stereo smoked and now the windshield wipers won't shut off. No blown fuses just popped the line circuit from starter relay to alternator. Replaced battery...

you must RUN the scanner/computer for easy diagnostic, and fix it.
Remember the electronic vehicle is very complicated, You can have some faulty: PCM+ignition coil+BCM+sensor+etc.

Out battery in 92 ford explorer backwards. Now it has no spark at the coil. Replaced coil, ignition relay, siliniod. Why can't I get any spark? Also changed the crank sensor

Did you first check all of the fuses to see if they have power, and do you have a check engine light on the dash when you turn the key switch on ?

1992 ford e-150 getting no juice to the coil. what could be the problem?

Some of the vehicles have an Ignition Relay that goes in between the Ignition switch and the coil.

It used to be that the wire from the Ignition switch to the coil was all you would have.
So your relay is probably in a Powerbox, and may be the same part number as the Horn relay. If so, you can use the Horn Relay to get the vehicle started.

1992 ford explorer..replaced head gaskets, coil pack, spark plugs and wires, cam sensor. But there is no spark from the coil pack to spark plugs. It turns but won't start. What else could be wrong?

turn on your ignition and see if you have 12v on the plus side of the coil. if you don't then see if you have 12v at the plus side of any injector. if neither have it, then you have to check your asd relay.

1992, 4.9L f150 has no spark. I have a new distributor, computer, ecc, coil, wires, plugs, checked fuses, cleaned connectors, new relays, have 12v at the coil, good ground and no spark at all? help.

I have a 92 F-150 XLT with a 5.0. The ignition switch block burned up so I replaced it. Now it will not get spark when I crank it over, but when I crank it and let off of the key, I get one spark jump from the coil; to the distributer. (I have a spark tester I placed on the cap to the wire) I have replaced the coil and the ignition module that is on the fender attached to the brain, I have replaced the ignition cylinder and key (It was acting up) and I took the dash apart to see the wire harness to ensure there was no burnt wires. (The wire connection to the ignition block is not damaged from when the switch burned.
Does anyone know if there is a part that tends to go bad when the ignition block burns up??

Engine turns, catches, then dies

Could be the ignition switch. When you crank the engine, the ignition coil gets a voltage source that is different than when the car runs.This would give you the symptom you describe.
