I have a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer I change the alternator and battery the car cuts off and it flashes real quick on the message center that there's something wrong with the charging system trying to...

Disconnect the battery and charge it; then reconnect the battery. There are 2 systems which can cause this. The antitheft and the battery drain protector.

The antitheft can view a very low charge as an attempted theft. The battery drain protector is an automatic shutout for any circuit that is putting too heavy a demand on the Alternator. This feature can actually disconnect a charging system if it is making the Alternator work too hard.

This is why the battery must be fully charged. Since components have gotten flimsy the drain protector is trying to keep the Alternator from overheating.

Other causes for blinking are reversed polarity and relays that are kicking out due to bad contact points. If there is anyway to borrow a scanner, it may identify the defect.

Theres 2 lights flashing above the tempeture gage

Check your owner's manual but they are probably indicating that the engine is badly overheating and the battery is either dead or not charging. You need to stop the engine NOW and determine the problem. A likely cause is a broken serpentine belt which will cause the engine to overheat (no water pump) and the battery to go dead (no alternator charging).

Can the car alarm cause the battery in my chrysler cirrus to lose charge

if the head lights continue to flash of course the battery will go flat. every time the head lights flash there is 65 watts of power coming out of the battery. Have the alarm modulator checked out as it should only flash once or twice to indicate that the alarm is activated.

You might want to test alternator to see if it is full fielding[ maximum charge all the time].
if battery is bad that will also cause alt .output to be max. some telltale signs are fluid on outside of battery and swelling.litterley boiling battery fluid....let me know if that helps

Alternator tests good ot store but on car only reads 12.4 volts and 4 to 6 amps. regulator was replaced with new alternator . 1969 cougar v-8

sounds like a bad battery - check that -even if new try a well known used battery if you need to. Also charge the battery to full charge and then try it. Many ford [ merc] will tell you do not install a battery that is not fully charged as it will cause problems with the charging system. As a last resort try a new battery with a FULL CHARGE and check the wiring for very hard places near the alternator. These can be a sign of working the assembly too hard. Consider replacing the 'hard' portions of the wires.

WITHIN FIVE MINUTES AFTER THE LIGHT STOPS FLASHING I MUST TURN OFF THE IGNITION FOR ONE SECOND AND TURN IMMEDIATLY BACK TO THE RUN POSITION FOR 15 MORE MINUTES. THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF AGAIN . WITHIN 5 MIN. I MUST TURN OFF THE IGNITION FOR ONE SECOND AND TURN BACK TU RUNNING POSITION. 15 MINUTES LATER REPEAT STEPS AGAIN AND THE KEY WILL BE REPROGRAMMED, AND STSRT THE CAR. Battery for 98 Stratus

The light you speak of is actually indicating an issue with the charging system and is usually an indicator of a faulty alternator.
However if your light flashes and doesn't remain lit it could be a sign of a bad connection in the charging system. If it only flashes once in a while you are better off to wait until it remains lit for a while. Simply because electrical diagnosis is very time consuming and the mechanic can spend hours looking and still not find a clear cause for your issue. And these wasted hours can cost you BIG.
But keep in mind that when that light is lit your battery is not receiving a charge and will go dead and could leave you stranded. So don't stray too far from home until you can get this issue resolved
hope this helps! and thanks for choosing FIX YA!
