There is a brake light relay driven by the fuse, should be under the drivers side dash on the left.
Hope this helps.

Have you done any checking using a volt meter?
Did you check the ground side of whatever you were
doing?
Need wiring diagrams before you get much farther

No volt meter yet. Some one told me there is a switch by the driver seat that goes to the back. Do you know about this?

No I do not. I work off of wiring diagrams & learn the systems I work on

Have a 89 ford ranger all lights work except brake lights. I replaced the switch, fuses are good and so are the bulbs. What else could be causing the brake lights not to work??

It could be the turn signal switch, since the brake wire travels through the turn switch after it leaves the brake switch and then goes to the bulbs. That is how you get a steady brake light on one side, and a blinking light on the turning side. The rear turn signal lights and brake lights share the same filament in the bulbs (and the same wire). The wire on the turning side has to first travel through the flasher relay.
If you have a test light, first check for power out of the brake light switch with the pedal depressed. Then check for power in and power out at the turn switch connector-power in on the brake light wire and power out on either of the wires going to the rear bulbs-if no power out, the turn switch is bad-brake pedal still depressed so you still have the signal.

My brake lights don't turn on when i press the brake petal.

assuming fuses are ok and the new bulbs are the correct fitment(there are many different types) check the new pedal switch again.
some are adjustable for length. check when you push pedal down that the switch is NOT still in contact with the pedal. if it is then you may need to adjust it to make it shorter, sometimes just pulling the pedal upwards can be enough to do this.
good luck

Brake light will not work but the one in window does ever since I replaced the brake switch no brake lights will work.

Do you have trailer light atachment plug??? Sometimes there is a T that the trailer plug, plugs into. Sometimes they get road film and dirty which make it loose connection to the tail lights. Check this plug out under the back of the truck. Also check your tail light bulbs, sometime they will be bad or have a bad connection. It is a cheep fit, just replace the bulbs. Also get someone to help you press the petal, and check for voltage with a meter at the T , & the bulb connection.
