You have an engine control unit, but that is rarely the problem. Is your engine light on? If yes, let me know and I'll send procedures for extracting the trouble codes that may identify the problem.
If no engine light, the first thing I would check is the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and plug it with a golf tee. Start the engine and see if gas comes out the vacuum port on the regulator. Is indicates a busted diaphram. Even if the diaphram is good, I would then borrow a fuel pressure gage and run the tests below to make sure the regulator is working to keep the pressure at 39psi. Let me know if this isn't it or you have more questions.

  1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
  2. Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative battery cable.
When disconnecting any fuel system hoses, always place a shop towel to prevent residual fuel from spaying.
  1. Disconnect the high pressure hose at the delivery side. Using a fuel pressure gauge and adapter (09353-24000 or equivalent), install the adapter to the delivery pipe.
  2. Connect the negative battery cable.
  3. Activate the fuel pump, by applying battery voltage to the fuel pump drive terminal. Check that there is no leakage from pressure gauge or connections.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator and plug.

  1. Operate the engine at idle and check the fuel pressure. Fuel pressure should be 47-50 psi (330-350 kPa).
  2. Reconnect the vacuum hose to the pressure regulator. With the engine idling, fuel pressure should be 39 psi (270 kPa).
  3. If the specified values are not met, make the necessary repairs, as indicated in the diagnosis chart.
  4. Shut the engine OFF. Check that the fuel pressure is maintained at the value indicated in Step 8, for approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Relieve the fuel pressure.
  6. Remove the fuel pressure gauge and reconnect the high pressure hose, using a new O-ring.
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.

I am sorry but we have no parts here. I would suggest you contact a local salvage yard or use one of the online search engines for used parts.

A 2002 Lincoln Navigator where is the brain box located at?

If you think the ECM is called a 'brain box', your best bet it to take it to an auto-electrician. You are driving one of the most electronically controlled vehicles on the road. It contains dozens of modules controlling functions using hundreds of sensors all communication on a serial bus computer network.

If you are thinking of replacing the 'brain box', it has to be programmed with the VIN Number and the mileage using a bi-directional scan tool computer. Then establish connection with all the other modules. This is not a home mechanic job to fix the problem, which you haven't shared with us.

Can your brain box cause fuel to mix with your engine oil?

lol, no it can't. It can cause unusual issues until it dries out if water got inside it, but not mixing fuel and water on purpose.

The other consideration is that the 'brain box', properly can the the ECM (engine control module) is waterproof. I hose my engine bay down twice a year. I keep it very clean. Never had an issue.

What is an ECM

Electronic Control Module, the engine management computer in plain English, the brain box in slang; some car makers call theirs an ECU (Electronic Control Unit), or a PCM (Program Control Module, or Powertrain Control Module), or ECM (Electronic Control Module). May even be other names for them. The engine computer uses several sensors (as inputs) to compute fuel requirements and spark timing (ignition timing) needed for the operating conditions at that moment, then it sends signals to controllers and switches (outputs) to run the engine at optimum efficiency.

What are the functions of the brain box in a car?

Well, there are several "brains" in your car, but most people are referring to the ECU (engine control unit) when they refer to the brain. The ECU interfaces with all of the engine management sensors and adjusts fuel, timing and other performance-related issues real-time as you drive. It uses algorithms written into its programming to make your engine run as efficiently as possible. It also detects problems with engine sensors and equipment and alerts you via the check engine light and the OBD hook-up.

Hope this is an answer to your question,
matt

Hydraulic lifters? I have been racking my brains for this one. Lifters will sometimes pump up when cold and then lose pressure as they get worked. Would explain why your camshaft died. Suggest you look at old camshaft, see the cams that were worn and replace those lifters. Only thing I can come up with!

Dodge intrepid

The PCM, ECU (engine control module, powertrain control module, brain box, etc.) is located underneath the airfilter assembly. Remove the accordian hose attaching the intake to the air box then remove 2-3 bolts securing the airbox in and you will see it sitting underneath there.
