You hooked a hot wire direct to pass. window? So, what do you mean by having to keep switching on and off, touching and removing the hot wire??
Just a thought: maybe the ground for windows is loose or poor contact. To check, the ground wire originates at the driver's master switch and goes into the cabin with the other wires, and then to nearby ground. It is probably behind the driver's side kick panel screwed to the car frame. Pull the panel off and check the ground. You could also use an ohmmeter and see how much resistance is on the wire from switch to the ground. If high resistance, some strands of the wire may have broken.
Don't know beyond that, unless the master switch is failing. Try a used one from salvage to check. That way you won't spend money on a new switch that you maybe didn't need. Good luck.

SOURCE: My front driver side power window is not working

you have to replace the window regulator reason why is because the cable ripped which would cause the motor to work without moving the window up or down .. regulator is the cable and the rails were the motor makes the woindow move up and down on. you have to replace it.

SOURCE: pt cruiser power window problem

Yes I had the same problem , the battery died, and I needed to jump start the car.
When I went to open the windows the windows where not working and the power top would not come down. The smart windows got a glitch, no you may not need to go to the dealer for them to reset it.
This is what I did with some experimenting.
1) First charge your battery in the car,
2) disconnect the battery lead to the battery
3) while waiting 5 minutes clean your terminals on battery
4) check your fluids, tire pressure and filter Just for the heck of it
5) reconnect terminals on your battery
6) get in car and gently close the door, the window as you know will be up to high, but this will trick your smart windows to think its in normal position with the door close
7) start your car and hopefully it as booted up to normal.
I did find the first time I did disconnect the battery for a few seconds , this did not work,
it did not clear the memory out of the system.
The other thing was the when I waited 5 minutes the radio station memory was not lost.
Don't rush it,
Good luck and please give me some feed back.

SOURCE: driver side power window not working. how do you

you can test the voltage that comes out of the switch, if no voltage, then switch is bad. If there is 12 volts coming out then the motor is bad or dirty.

Where is the power window relay located on a 1964 Pontiac GTo with AC.

I believe those older cars used circuit breakers, not relays, for the power window systems. By using a test light, you don't know if battery voltage is present at the window switch. Maybe the voltage is reduced, somehow.
I would first check the switch's power with a voltmeter. If the motor is getting battery voltage, I would say the motor. If the voltage is low,
you had better find a wiring diagram, Dave, to trace it out.

Why rear windows on 2001 chevy tracker won't work ?

Would seem your into the inner doors & have a partial
grasp on things

Now you fix all door windows one shot

#1 Test all switches, ohm meter unplugged or volt meter with power
#2 Test all motors with battery voltage direct -- DC motor will run either direction-- can't hook up wrong
#3 Window Regulators -you know about them (Unless they are broken-you said they are tight)
#4 Do you have good ground side wiring & battery voltage at all
switches & motors
#5 Last resort--unhook the cables & work on freeing up the
glass & window guides etc then you will have found out if the
regulators are the issue

Drivers side window does not work it went down but

Master switch failures are common - especially when they have the "Auto Down" feature. Ford started this in the late production 2002 models - your may or may not have this..Motor failures are also common. You can test the circuit very easilly using a simple test light and a couple of jumper wires. Pull the master switch up out of the door. (Be careful not to break the snap-clip mounts)

The Light Blue/Black wire is your main battery feed into the switch. This should be hot any time the ignition switch is on.
The solid Black wire is your main ground.
The White/Black and the Tan/Light blue wires go to the driver's window motor. If you check these wires with your test light, one should be hot and the other should be ground when you operate the switch. In one direction (Up or Down) The White/Black wire will be hot and the Tan/Light blue wire will be ground. When you operate the switch in the other direction, the Tan/Light Blue wire will be hot and the White/Black wire will be ground. If it does not work like this, replace the master switch (Make sure you test for both power and ground in each can test for power by connecting your test light to the Black wire and you can test for ground by connecting your test light to the Light Blue/Black wire)

If the switch is operating as described above, replace the window motor.

Driver's side power window won't work in '96 honda accord. stuck in the down position.

Its most likely a faulty power window motor. They all have individual circuit breakers inside the motor or switch, they aren't on a fuse. They quite often fail in either full up or full down positions, but can stop anywhere. Remove the door panel and locate the 2 wire connector coming from the motor. If you have a test light jumper across both wires (on the vehicle side of connector), while using the switch. It should light up in both directions (bi-directional motor). If the test light only lights in one direction or neither, it is most likely a bad window switch. To verify, jumper 12Volts to one side of the window motor connection and ground the other. The window should move in one direction, revrse the 2 wires the window moves in opposite direction then the motor is good.

Driver window problem?

Does the window work about half way the stops and if you wait a few min. does the window start working again ? If so it is most likely the window mtr. Another easy ck is to turn the key on without the engine running and operate the drivers window and watch the dome light .If the dome light dims with each direction of the switch then it is most likely the window motor (do this in the garage or at night easier to see the dome light.) If the dome light dims in only one direction than most likely the window switch . The best way is to take the door panel off and disconnect the window motor and connect a test light across the wires and operate the window switch. The test light will light in both directions if the wiring and the switch are good. Then replace the motor. If the test lights in only one direction (up or down ) then you will nee to ck the switch or wiring.

Drivers window not woring

These driver widow motors are fairly simple. You must have power on one wire and ground the other to make it work. Reverse the polarity and the motor operates in the reverse direction. If you have power on the black wire make sure you have a ground path on the blue and vice versa when you operate the switch in the other direction. There is a possiblity you may have a broke ground wire between the cab and the door causing all the problem.

None of the windows work! 2000 Intrigue

if no fuses are burnt and you have new switches installed then it going to be either bad motors or a broken wire in the harness to the driver door switch set.

The door master window switch has stop working, it has power going to it (red wire is hot all the way to the unit)but the only thing that works is the drivers side power lock. The passager side works fine...

Check the ground attach a 12v test light to battery positive and prob the ground circuit. If it does not light up check the wiring in the door jam were the hinge is seen lots of broken wires in there before.

2003 Dodge durango sport all four power windows not working

I know its not what anyone would want to here but sounds like a short. Best thing to do is first wiggle your key switch when the vehicle in in the on position then at the same time try to check to see if locks or windows are working. Then do the same in while the rig is running. If that dont work your ignition is fine and you need to take off door panels and check and wiggle all conections on window motors and lock motors and look for melted or burt wire or some that might have got hot. If all is good there you need to go to the back of the fuse box were the fuses to those items plug in and check there. As far as the service engine light goes either take it to the nearest Schucks or AutoZone and they will check it for free if not cycle the key on and off 3 times and on the 3rd time leave it in the on position look at your odometer light and it will flash a code remember that code and type Dodge then the code on yahoo search and it should tell you why your light is on Hintz whay sensor is bad. Hope this helps.
