My 2004 chevy trailblazer won't idle and will not accelerate

2004 trailblazer will not idle at times, have the raise the rpms in order to shift into gear to move. Sometime when i hold the accellerator pedal to the floor the rpms will not exceed 3000 rpms. The low power fault lights comes on at times.

Need a shop to check it with a scan tool
& look into all info on the issue on their data
base, before diagnosing the problem
You can google the problem & most likely
find lots on it, but won't be able to work on it yourself

2004 chevy trailblazer power loss, high rpms, low ppms

Check the timing chain. Some times the chain will shift with worn teeth and get out of synch. This will cause the engine to lose power and back fire. Sometimes with a flame through the carb. I did that one once. Easy fix if it is the problem.

2004 Chevy trailblazer won't shift out of first

Have you checked transmission fluid recently. If the levels are low and/or if the dipstick smells burnt, there is a good chance your transmission is shot. Check it out & let me know; may have another idea if the fluid level checks out.

Has low idle and wants to die when a/c is on when idling. Then when i accelerate, it sounds like it is shifting at high RPMs.

The low idle and wanting to stall is caused by a dirty throttle body, it needs to be cleaned thoroughly front and back sides using throttle body cleaning spray. Also while doing the cleaning, disconnect the battery to reset the computer so it will relearn to the newly cleaned throttle body.

2004 Trailblazer is hard to to steer when the RPM's of the vehicle drop to idle speed. It acts like it doesn't have power steering but if you raise the RPM's it's fine. Supposedly had a new pump installed...

There is a sensor in the hydralic steering line that tells the PCM to raise the engine RPMs when power is called for when idling. Check to see if the wire connector is attached, if so you may need to have the sensor replaced.

Idle rpm too low

are you reading your rpms right....5-6000 rpms should equal 70- 85 mph....that is certainly not idle speed....invest 20bucks in a Haynes manual----it is good reading
