6 CYLINDER IS A INLINE ENGINE LONGER ENGINEIT HAS SIX SPARK PLUGS. THE V8 ENGINE HAS 2 VALVE COVERS. LEFT BANK RIGHT BANK IT HAS 8 SPARK PLUGS..

To know what size of motor you have in the vehicle, you need the LETTERS that are stamped on the engine itself. The locations are:

For an inline 6:

The six cylinder engine letters are stamped on a pad on the right side of the engine at the rear of the distributor-
230 CID 6 CYL---TA, TE, OR TG
292 CID 6 CYL---UH OR UT

For a V-8:

The V8 engine letters are stamped on a pad immediately forward of the right hand cylinder head (driver's side head)-
283 CID 8 CYL---WA AND WE

There is no 350 CID installed in '65 in the Chevy.

You didn't mention engine size so here are the diagrams for both the 6 & 8 cyl engines.

Starting in the year of 2000 they quit using a V8 and started using a 327 which is still a 8 cyl. They just supposedly get better gas mileage. But no know serious problems.
