You need RUN the scanner/computer for setup .
Otherwise you must waste time+money. The electronic vehicles now is very complicated.

2003 silverado duramax shut off on me replaced the filter and reprimed still wont start the pump makes a little noise when i turn the key but only lasts about a 1/ 2 a second need help checked the fuel...


Its hard to say for sure .It could be the pump there olny good for 10 years or so depending on how much you drive it
It could also be a wireing or connection problem to the pump they have upgraded the wireing .
But it could also be the oil pressure sending unit .Chevy uses it as a back up for the relay in case the relay gose bad while driveing the oil pressure unit will energize the fuel pump to keep it running .
Dose it or did it crank for a long time before it starting before it wouldn't start anymore

Management light came on mechanic said to put oil in put some in car was fine then week later wont start mechanic said oil over fill


I would never go back to that mechanic. If the light comes on, go to autozone or other store and have the code read(FREE) and they will often times give very helpful advice. Most cars have oil lights which would light up if you did not have enough oil and/or were losing oil pressure.

My 91 blazer (Jimmy) just quit running. Looks like getting gas. Just turns over and over. Won't start. Just instantly WTF?!


What do you mean it looks like its getting gas ? Try removeing the fuel filter its an in line filter located on the frame rail under the drivers door . Then put a plastic soda bottle on the line that is comeing from the gas tank and turn the key to run for 5 seconds . If you don't get at least 3 to 4 ounces of fuel then your fuel pump is bad . Or its the relay in the glove box or its the oil pressure sending uint . Have you been haveing problems with the oil pressure gauge or dose it start hard a long cranking time . Long cranking is the relay oil pressure problems is the sending unit but it is a back up power supply for the fuel pump . If the filter is clogged the pump is probably shot you could try replaceing the filter but that pump olny last 10 years at best it just depends if its been replaced at one time witch may be likely seenig its 20 years old the new ones were better a lot of upgrades on them check it out i can't do it for you olny you can do it good luck

Have you recently purchased the vehicle. A rebuilt agent with, racing seals & a racing oil pump, will run around 75 - 85 lbs pressure. If it just started happening on a vehicle you have had for a while, a defective guage. Or look for a plugged oil chamber, (near impossible without dis-assembly). Bad oil sending unit (part that sends the signal to the guage.

giving the fact that your oil pressure drops tells me that its a high millage worn out motor when the motor is cold the oil is thicker then when the motor is at normal running temp. some people have good luck with using a thicker grade oil such as 10w 40 or 25w 50 and some will still run the same oil as they always have but just use a additive such as lucas oil treatment witch is thicker but works great for worn motors slick 50 is another really good additive as well both of witch i have used and my vote is on the lucas just because i run it in my stock cars we race and all my older trucks.

There is still something wrong, if you can not tell from the way your engine is running then have the computer on your car get checked and find out what the problem is?

I have 94 grand marq,the oil light had come on,so just a few miles down the road it cutt off on me,so i put oil in it,then it started up running really bad,and then a few miles down the road it was kind of...


Sounds like you put too much oil in your vehicle- The engine is under pressure and when the oil is filled past full it makes it hard for the crank to turn because the engine has nowhere to displace the pressure being the oil is over filled. You should never use a warning light to determine weather or not you need more oil or any other fluid for that matter- Warning lights rely on sensors and if a sensor faults or fails it can give false signals (like yours did) thats why you should always use your engines dip stick to determine if you have proper fluid levels!- Drain your oil and try again. If your lucky you didn't bend a rod- if you did bend a rod your going to need repairs or a new engine (depending on your choice of direction in repair)

I would start with dropping the oil pan to check pick-up tube to oil pump could be cloge.Good luck.

I don't think a 92 sundance will shut the fuel pump down when the oil pressure is low, but it might. Can you get it to run on carb cleaner. If it is oil pressure, the car should start then run a few seconds and die. Have you checked the timing belt? If it broke the distributor will stop turning which would stop the oil pump.
