Yes it is a faulty float in the tank the next thing that u gotta watch out for is ith pump to go out my jimmy had 142000 miles on it and i replaceg the fuel pump myselt saving about 3 to 400 dollars the lowest i could find the pump for was 250 dallors + the lock ring was 25 dollars and thats a dealer part unless u go to the junk yard cause mine was so rusted that is just crumbled when i took it off so expeck to pay ab 300 for the parts and if u have a mechanic do add an additional 3 to 400 dollars to it.

Depending on the severity of the problem, Sea Foam fuel additive can fix this (or at least lessen the crazy jumping around). It's available at NAPA. It worked on my Jimmy. However, in my case gauge started jumping around with less than 1/4 tank (worked fine when full).

I have a nissan Murano that Im unable to fill the fuel tank. it is always takes half tank. how can I resolve this.

i had same issue when someone once tried to siphon gas from my tank and left a tool in the filler tube. i would check there first. make sure some mischievous kid didn't drop something down there. otherwise check your owners manual for tank capacity and carry a gas can with you. you should get around 250 miles to a full tank. run the tank low and refill. your gauge or sender may be faulty. call a dealer with VIN on hand, explain the problem, could be software issue

Have a '92 4runner gas gauge has stopped working properly how does the system work?

It could either be a bad circuit board that controls the gas gauge, or the float in the fuel tank that is connected to the fuel pump has a crack in it and is full of gas so it just sits at near its lowest point.

You probably have a bad sending unit for the fuel level in the tank. this would cause the gauge to be erratic when the level is below 1/2 tank and the float is moving around much more than when full. The oil pressure gauge problem could be caused buy a loose wire connection or a faulty sending unit.

Gas guage no longer works when below half a tank.

You are probably looking at dropping the fuel tank down and removing the float and sending unit ( all in one unit). Once it's taken apart, you may see that you can fix it or you may have to replace it.

Fuel sensor gauge

you will need to replace the fuel level sensor.(sending unit) it is in the tank and is hooked to the fuel pump. you can buy seperatly from pump. you may finf it easier to remove the bed if you have some help. it is six or eight bolts and harness unplugs then you can get right to it.

Gas gauge

Sounds like you have a bare or broken wire earthing out on the chassis/body Trace the wires from the tank back to the engine bay and check that the wires are intact.
