Whaere is the asd relay on my 1992 ford explorer? - 93725554-b514-46b8-9061-79fa5809afbc.jpg6b73eada-a58d-4a64-aa00-a64502b2156a.jpg There really isn\'t an auto shut down (ASD) relay. That\'s really a Chrysler thing. In any case there is a main relay that is for power supply called an EEC relay. I have marked its location in the top picture. Not sure of all the "many parts" you have replaced so far but am going to suggest just in case you haven\'t replaced and/or check or even know about the electronic distributerless ignition system module (EDIS module). It\'s kind of hidden and is a pain because if it is the original one it\'s rivited on. It has a 12 pin connector on it and if you are getting power when the key is on to the red wire, this could be your problem assuming you have checked all the fuses and wiring snd have a good ground there. There is a pink wire so don\'t get them mixed up due the the age of your vehicle and fading. It will be in the 8th pin location not the 3rd pin where the pink wire is. Above in the other pictures is the location of the EDIS module and a good picture of what it looks like. This goes out you don\'t have your power supply to the coil. It could be the EEC replay but just throwing this out to try and help. One last thing is I would really fully diagnose things before you lose any more money on parts that are not needed. I\'ll be happy to try and help you diagnose this. Hate to see people losing money trying to fix a problem replacing not needed parts. I hope this helped you out.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

This will be caused by a faulty distributor coil. You may want to swap the coil and observe how it goes.

You are at thhe right trail what controls spark is coil pack crank sensor sparkplugs and plug wire but the most important is power . I mean 12 volt connections and ground This includes checking fuses you need a simple volt meter doesnt have to expensive or fancy just to pick up 12 volts let start with fuses in the engine juction box (there not mark to what it belongs to) make sure none are open. especially fuse 19 and 24 , next go to the crank sensor make sure the tabs are snuggly on now to the coil pack there is a red and light green wire this comes from ignition and feeds 12 volts at the coil pack measure that voltage is it 12 volts if not correct it this is from ignition switch ( you can make a tool that feed 12 volt with a wire and a fuse in series and attatch it to battery and the primary wire this is known as hot wire) next go to the ECM wiggle the wires see if that get a connection going if not go back to the ICM here are the wire you are to measure the tan light green, this is from ECM and it is pulsed it measure 5vlts to 0 volts switched then measure the tan orange the same thing 5 volts to zero, then tan white again 5vlts to zero. any one of these 5 to zero fails you fix is the ecm

Check to make sure the check engine light is coming on, on the dash, when you turn the ignition switch on. If it is not coming on, try leaving the ignition on for a few minutes to see if that light does come on and the jeep starts then. If so, then your ecu computer is in need of repair.

I have a 2005 dodge neon that will crank but wont start. I have replaced the cam shaft sensor, crank sensor and the coil pack. Iam also not getting spark to the coil pack. Any suggestions?

Primary voltage to several systems, including the ignition coil, dark green wire with orange tracer. That voltage comes from asd relay. There is a fuse for asd relay. To check for voltage the engine has to cranking. The control side of asd relay, the computer has to ground it before it will energize. Did you check wiring circuits for cam and crank sensor connectors before replacing sensors? Are there any applicable trouble codes?
Are you ok with testing wiring circuits?

1992 ford e-150 getting no juice to the coil. what could be the problem?

Some of the vehicles have an Ignition Relay that goes in between the Ignition switch and the coil.

It used to be that the wire from the Ignition switch to the coil was all you would have.
So your relay is probably in a Powerbox, and may be the same part number as the Horn relay. If so, you can use the Horn Relay to get the vehicle started.

1992 ford explorer..replaced head gaskets, coil pack, spark plugs and wires, cam sensor. But there is no spark from the coil pack to spark plugs. It turns but won't start. What else could be wrong?

turn on your ignition and see if you have 12v on the plus side of the coil. if you don't then see if you have 12v at the plus side of any injector. if neither have it, then you have to check your asd relay.

I have replaced the spark plugs, wires, coil, distributor cap & rotor, coil wire and my 92 wrangler, 4.0 L HO will crank but not start. I pulled a plug and grounded the casing, cranked the engine and...

a good start, (no pun) spark renewed parts
good. always good. a full tune up.. for real. (spark)

that distrib device is called a CMP, cam sensor!
the flywheel has CKP sensors. to...

but the reason you cant find this is you lacking a scan tool.
the PCM can cuts spark for many reasons.
the ASD relays does that. by command of the PCM

The PCM drops the relay for 1 to 8 reasons.
minus 1 , your car has no IMMO SKIM key.
but here is how to diagnose all JEEPS, (not fake MK jeeps)
first is to understand the ASD relay.

to do the tests takes 2 persons, unless you are a Xmen. guy.
the JEEP LAW OF 2 SECONDS must not be ignored,
2 full seconds. rule.
this rule applies to spark and fuel,

1:fuses good. test them.
(key on CEL glows, check engine lamp must glow or PCM has no power) does yours?
2: man 1, cranks. (car can crank with DEAD PCM) yup.
3: man 2 , (or WOman) tests spark using a test spark plug
at say #1 front, (easy bend over) lazy we are.
use a real spark plug. ok>? new. or not shorted.,
you ground the shell (this is a 100 year old test, not magic and is done by every mech, alive.) google how to test spark
and not get electrocuted, (got a pace maker?, keep hands in pockets)
4: the key on ASD closes and engine cranks and spark happens for 2 seconds, or not, if the spark ends just as the ASD drops
a hard cold fact.
if there was not spark for 2 full seconds, then sparks dead.
the PCM must be scanned.,
if you cant scan you get to shot gun all day.
i have a scope , you dont but i can see if the pcm is pulsing the COIL.
you cant. so get to guess that too.
if the PCM is not pulsing said coil (lets pretend coil is good, i can bench test them, easy)
then the PCM has BAD INPUTS>
or CKP
tops the list. of shot guns, seems like 1000s replaced here
and not one fixes it.... but goes on.. .. and on because....

best is to own a scan tool to fix any jeep 1991 to now.
or go broke every time a part gives up the ghosts.

the keyon 3 times tests.
can find problems , but NEVER ALL problems, its blind to many.
its just toy really, but has value, if if works.
