more than like an ABS wheel sensor. your vehicle is equiped with 4. behinf each wheel you will see a small set of wires running to them, then where the wheel is attached you will see a gear with small teeth. the abs sensor reads the teeth to see if the wheels are still moving. the only way to fix the prob is to get new ones. buy 1 try it if it doesnt work take it back and get another until the prob is fixed. IT IS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE.

Absolutely not normal. In my immediate family we have a number of Jazz's going from the early 2002 models to last year's new Jazz.
None have ever had that problem, and whenever the discs have needed replacement due to regular wear (one set of front discs lasts two to three sets of pads, and each set of pads lasts about 10 to 15k miles depending on driving style) it's cost nothing like that much. Typically about £220 fitted by Honda and £120 when I've done the job myself using quality parts from Mintex, Ferodo or Bendix (takes around half an hour per side, but I can now do both sides in half an hour). On one of the cars an ABS reluctor ring broke causing the ABS to cut in too early (you'll feel and hear it as a banging noise via the brake pedal) and that was a bit pricey as the ring was only supplied as part of a complete driveshaft. Although Honda don't sell the ring separately, there are third party suppliers who will do so. If it's just pads and discs then your dealer is charging you silly money and I'd still be demanding to know why the discs have worn so abnormally.
Given your current mileage it's highly likely that your pads are due for replacement, but unless there's another fault the discs should be good for at least one more set of pads and should have evenly worn down.
Don't take your current Honda dealer's word for it, shop around: I'm lucky enough to have a choice of three different dealers within about a 45 minute drive of me. My nearest dealer is expensive and in my family's experience, incompetent. The other two are both good but one is significantly cheaper than the other (Redhill Honda). If you're still unhappy then contact Honda UK as it's not unknown for them to offer goodwill repairs outside of the warranty: don't expect this to happen though if you've missed services or had them done outside the Honda dealer network.
