Question about 2003 Ford Escape
Had the same problem with my escape, the tach speedometer and all gauges but fuel went to zero. most all the lights came on. when i went to restart it nothing, but I noticed the security light was flashing rapidly I SMACKED the top of the dash with the key off, and everything came back good. long story short it turned out to happen more and more, till I found out it was a faulty instrument cluster. had to have it replaced at dealer $650.00 total. if this is the problem make sure to report it to the NTSP (national transportation safety board) if enough people report it it will become a recall issue and it will either be repaired free or you will get reimbursed if you save your receipt.

The problem original would have been the battery failure but if you had the jump start done incorrectly then the resultant power surge may have knocked out the cpu unit and that is why nothing works properly. Try having the cpu reset by a fault code reader and keep your fingers crossed. You may be lucky

Testimonial: "It didn't need boosting when we left the house! But did notice the starter turning slower than normal! This has to be a water problem, or a battery issue! I have no other choice to work on it myself due to lack of funds. A-zone bumped their heads , cant find a battery for less than a $100! I have to recover first, had serious surgery"
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Try dis connecting the negative side of your battery for 5 minutes. Hook the battery back up and see if the theft system reset itself. It has to be the negative side only. Hope this works.

SOURCE: car was running fine, stopped
Was the anti-theft system activated? Mine did that and had to be taken in to Ford. As a result of an immobilized engine my battery ended up being drained...... $225 later (was not covered by extended warranty :( ) my car finally was fixed... now my upper motor mount needs replacing
