Hi has anyone know bmw e87 2004 door mirror pinouts?the problem is that the door has been changed with the whole wireing loom and know wing mirror dont work. originally it had 3 pin connector as it is on drivers side but on the door that has been changed it has 5 wires and the mirror dont work for some reason.i was just wondering if its possible to work my way round with the wire maybe switch them over or shall i change the whole wireing loom of the door

your mirror control switch has 9 wires.,your drivers door mirror has 5 wires color coded .from your mirror control switch to your drivers siide mirror / 0.5 black .0.5 brown. 0.5 brown. 0.5 black. 0.5 black.
your passenger mirror wires are 0.5 blue/black .0.5 blue/grey. 0.5 blue/white. the passenger mirror has a ground cable 0.5 brown.
the passenger mirror wire 0.5 green/white connects to a 5amp fuse/F25 onto F31 5amp to a wire 0.75 green/yellow.back to the mirror control switch.

Also, the link below is to provide you schematics for your engine wiring harnesses. You did not indicate which engine you had (diesel or gas). The link provides access to schematics for both engines. http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/e38old/index.htm From the main menu, select: Drive, then your engine and then select engine electrical system. As far as the cause, you didn't mention what the source of the fire was. Check online for recall notices for your specific model. A google search will yield several links to sites that list recalls for yyour vehicle. It will let you know if there are any known issues regarding engine compartment fires for your model....

sounds like your mirrors that came on the car were heated and the ones you are replacing them with are not thats why the extra wire on yours.
