Code dtc41 Cam sensor error. Where is this located and how hard is it to fix.

The cam sensor is located on the right side of the engine near
the end of the cam shaft. Remove the retaining bolt and plug then remove and replace sensor. Hope this helps.

1999 ford explorer cam sensor needs replaced how hard is it to replace

the CMP (camshaft positioning sensor) is located underneath (or technically inside) the distributor. The manual states the distributor is sealed and the cmp is inside, but is also replaceable. therefore, I am guessing the cmp is bolted underneath the distributor. If you remove the distributor, the end of the shaft should be a slot and not splines and the timing is not adjustable, so when you put it back together if the timing is wrong, the distributor can only be 180 degrees off, so you don't have to be too picky about perfect placement. Make sure to marke it anyway though, to avoid being 180 off.

The cam sensor is just under the water pump. The magnet is on the cam gear, To replace it the timing cover has to come off along with the cam gear.
