Onan Marquis good 5500. After 30 seconds starting, carburetor floods out. Cleaned out carburetor, still floods. Pinched off fuel line, ran till it was starved. Released, ran till it flooded again.

Hello Johnnie Thomas,

If GASOLINE is allowed to STAND it can VARNISH things together!

Either you have a stuck (or obstructed) valve seat...
(on the business end of your float)...

or the float ITSELF no longer floats
(freely: a malformed gasket can also obstruct free motion).

In principle the float bowl acts exactly like a "TOILET TANK"

When the fuel DROPs below the IDEAL level, the float (also drops) & the pressure released from the fill valve
(typically a needle &seat)...

Most carburetor kits include a new needle valve...
precisely because it is vital to the function.

Sort of a full CARB Rebuild... try cleaning the inside of the fuel bowl with Berryman B12.

Hope this helps.

The car is flooding and will not start fouling the plugs replaced coil pack spark plugs and wires also replaced some sensors it still floods and will not start my name is Lawson Cambron

If the engine is flooding the cylinders, you more than likely have a fuel problem, not an electrical problem. You didn't say what kind of car you have or the year, which also matters very much. Are all cylinders flooding or only one? If 1, you have a bad fuel injector, or if it's an older car with a carburetor, the float is sticking inside the carburetor. You may even have a bad fuel pressure regulator. I would imagine the only way it could be electrical is if there's a problem with the computer itself.

Car keeps flooding

is your car fuel injected or carburetted? if you say flooding i assume you have a carburetor, my only problem is your car is '05 which is usually fuel injected. but let's say it is carburetted, open carburetor and clean, check float valve for debris which prevent it from closing when reservoir is full, flooding occur when this happen. diy or have a mechanic do it for you.

If its carburetor type check the floater of the carburetor. if its electronically fuel injected then you have a problem with your electronics.

I would suspect the needle valve and seat in the carburetor bowl is sticking open thus allow fuel to flow into the intake which is flooding the engine.

My 1984 camaro z28 keeps flooding. when i turn off the ignition key, the fuel keeps pouring fuel into the carb.

possibly a malfunction in the computer that controls the 1984 camaros carb would close the carburetor completely, cutting off the fuel supply or leaving the carburetor completely open, flooding the engine and causing it to stall or flodding the engine at shut off

Carburetor flooding out of the air filter side of the dual carburetors on my 1990 honda prelude. will only happen after its been runnin for a bit. idle is not perfect and may have spmething to do with it....

This sounds like a float problem. The carbs have a fuel chamber each and the amount of fuel in the chambers is controlled by a plastic float and needle valve. Carb will require stripping and cleaning and float adjusted. Not a job for DIY i'm afraid

Flooding out

If you are sure it is flooding try a TPS throttle position sensor. It is located on top of the engine where the carburetors use to go. It is a small part, like a cigarette lighter and has 2 screws and 1 electric plug. Remove it and line up the slots on the replacement and it should work.
