Hi My Hyundai i10 irde era, experiencing power steering problem. The eps indicator is ON and steering wheel is very tight. I took to nearest Hyundai service centre and i am told that the entire eps module has to be replaced and it will cost around Rs 22000. Does this actually cost this much ?, Can the entire EPS system change part by part ie motor/electronic module etc ?, If yes how do i make sure that they are not cheating by replacing certain components charge me 22k ? Thanks in advance. Jaleel

Hello... This light indicates that you might have a problem with your Electronic Power Steering (EPS)...
Have a shop check it out...

Ok, with the battery, oil etc lights are governed by simple circuits, and therfore, as soon as they receive power, and earth, they turn off right away.
With the other lights, the malfunction and EPS lights, these go through a self-test function where they check a number of sensors, not just one, and they do this very quickly......the malfunction light checks out 20-35 different sensors, and in less than 1-2 seconds, thats fast.........
However, if they STAY on, then this is where it detects a problem and you should come back and see us again.

SOURCE: eps of my hyundai accent
I'm going to assume you are the original owner of this Accent. If so, the issue you have is still under warranty. Take the vehicle to the nearest Hyundai Service Department and have it repaired under warranty.

EPS: Electronic Power Steering - enables the amount of assistance with steering to be varied depending on speed and how much you turn the wheel. This means it can give lots of boost when parking the car whilst still giving you a good feel for the road at speed.
