SOURCE: No spark?

Hi, common thing with the mazda was the coil or the ignition amplifier going faulty, both of which are located within the distributor, the coil ususally gives the symptoms you describe, a weak spark. The coil is the most common failure aswell for your vehicle i would recommend a new one, also make sure distributor is spinning as it could just be a case of a broken timing belt.

Good luck Davelee

I'm not familiar with your car ... but does it have ordinary ht ignition leads, or colour coded ignition wires?
If it has colour coded ignition wires - each wire is a different colour for each different plug.

The image below is for a 4 cylinder engine:

Use a multimeter, and test each wire individually as you turn on/off lights. You won't need a colour code with this method.

I have a mazda mpv 2000 minivan.problem code p0301 misfire detected cylinder#1

I'd check #1 spark plug.
Usually a misfire code "fix" is a spark plug, spark plug wire, or a coil pack / distributor.
Keeping it simple...I'd go with the spark plug first and then look at the condition of the wires.

Hope this helps...

I have a 1995 ford thunderbird 4.6 eng. I have power to the dist but no power to the plugs. also where is the plug to get a code off of the computer?

while cranking the motor do you have spark coming out of the coil wire(ignition wire) to the distributor if not make sure the distributor is turning while cranking.if not it could be a broken distributor drive gear or the timing chain.as if you have spark out of the coil wire to the distributor then that is the only thing that will stop the power from being distributed to the other plug wires in the distributor, other than a burnt out rotor that is allowing the voltage to go to ground through a hole(crack) which is usually indicated by a black or grey colour mark on the rotor through to the distributor shaft.the computer plug is located one of two places as i`m not sure when ford went to the obd2 system.one place is under the hood on the drivers side laying or fastened to the inner fender possibly with a cover on it(some get lost).it is in the shape of a house(for a lack of discription)and black in colour with a separate wire with a grey colour plug in the cover.if its obd2 then the plug will be under the dash on the drivers side(usually visible when crouched) somewhere from under the steering colume to the left side of the dash and is rectangular in shape and has 16 pins in it.

I need the wiring colour coding for the rear lights of a 2000 v40d as im fitting towbar electrics

Your post:
Hi There.
here are the 7 cable locations and pin numbers.
Pin 1 Yellow L/H Direction Indicator
Pin 2 Blue Rear Fog Lamps
Pin 3 White Earth Return
Pin 4 Green R/H Direction Indicator
Pin 5 Brown R/H Tail & No, Plate Light
Pin 6 Red Stop Lamps
Pin 7 Black L/H Tail & No, Plate Lights

I found the easiest way to locate the correct wires in the loom is to turn on the lights required and use a circuit tester and splice into the main loom where you have enough wire to play with. Try not to cut the loom as it only causes more problems with bad connections and joins.
Good Luck

I need to connect airflow meter, distributor and other loose plugs but dont have colour codes. I need a wiring manual or diagram with clear colour coding.

As much as I remember from my Mazda most of the plugs don't have to many colours and they are different size and have different pins and sockets, try to match few of them and you will see it is not a big deal

1989 Mazda 323 gtx BG

Two things...
You should follow the pin numbers and not the color code.
Second
Check online for a service manual from Japan or the USA for that car. We got many Mazda imports here and there should be a lot of books on Ebay that would have the electrical schematics for a 323 from the USA and Canada.
You are going to have to just buy a book and have it shipped to NZ.
