SOURCE: car chugging

To determine what's wrong, u need to have the codes read. If the light is coming on, it is a signal that something is wrong w/ the emissions system. A code is stored in the cars computer that will indicate what the problem is. Most parts stores will read the stored engine codes for free. They plug a scan tool into a port under the dash to retrieve the code(s). Write them down, and ask what u should do to correct the problem. If u have any further questions after that, u can post them here. Let me know how u make out.

Speed sensor?

If there's oil all around the sensor, you have to find out where it's coming from. Is there an o ring out of place? Sounds like the sensor was installed incorrectly. . Try pulling it out, cleaning it up, and carefully re installing it. Good luck, it doesn't quite sound like the transmisson. Pressurized systems cannot leak. Let me know how you make out and please rate solution

1997 Lincoln Continental - Speedometer Not Working

Does the odometer work? If so,you'll have to pull the gauge cluster out to send for repair. If the odometer doesn't work either, you may have a bad or disconnected VSS(vehicle speed sensor-located on the tailshaft housing of the transmission)

My speedometer does not go to zero when stopped and shows 50mph when i'm running 30-35. I guess it isint the sensor but need to know the cost of a speedo unit

Hi, If you're trying to replace the 'cluster' w/all the gauges the cheapest will be @ a used auto parts/salvage/wrecking yard. The Aztek wasn't made for many years, but most GM products use 'parts bin' technology, meaning many parts fit many different vehicles.

You definitely don't need a kickdown cable, the kickdown is for the auto transmission, you may just need a new gauge cluster. also the cable you got from autozone could be a universal cable thats why it doesn't look the same, or it could just be a wrong cable, try napa.
