How do you replace a oil pump on a 2000 avalon

It's my understanding that the Avalon and Camry for said year are the same in respect to
the oil pump.I was able to come up with a video to show you how all the stuff has to be removed
from the front of the engine in order to get to the oil pump for replacement. This took some time
to find, but I do not mind.My friend, you've a lot of work ahead of you.I've been thru it before, and
won't do it again.Best of luck to you in your endeaver.

Now the oil pump proceedure in print:
Instructions
Remove Oil Pump
1
Drive your Toyota Camry up onto ramps or lifts so you have room to work as you pull out the oil pump.
You could also use a jack, but make sure you brace the front wheels so they don't roll. In addition,
set the emergency break firmly into position so the car doesn't roll.
2
Drain the oil out of your engine and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the fender apron
seal and the undercover, the front exhaust pipe, and the front exhaust pipe bracket from the No. 1
oil pan.
3
Remove the following components in order: the alternator drive belt, the air conditioner compressor,
the power steering pump drive belt and the adjusting strut, the timing belt along with the belt
pulleys, the rear timing belt cover, the air conditioning compressor housing bracket, the No. 2 oil
pan and oil strainer, as well as the No. 1 oil pan and baffle plate.
4
Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor and remove all nine of the oil pump bolts. Remember where
each bolt was located.
5
Take out the oil pump body by reaching in and grasping between the oil pump and main bearing cap.
Remove the O-ring from the cylinder block then remove the plug, gasket, spring and relief valve
from the oil pump body.
6
Finish by taking out all nine screws, the pump body cover and the driven rotors. Clean all
components to remove contaminants.
Install the Oil Pump
7
Install the new oil pump by slipping it into the same spot where the old one was. Reconnect
the following: the driven rotors, the drive pump body cover, all nine screws, the oil pump
relief valve, the spring, the gasket and the plug to the oil pump body.
8
Insert a new O-ring onto the cylinder block and add liquid sealant to the oil pump and the
engine block. Put the oil pump back on the engine block.
9
Add and tighten the bolts over several passes, keeping the torque even. The 10 mm head should
be 69 in-lb. and the 12 mm head should be 14 ft-lb.
10
Reconnect the crankshaft position sensor, torquing the bolt to 69 in-lb. Insert the No. 1 oil
pan and oil strainer and the No. 2 oil pan.
11
Reinstall the air conditioner compressor housing bracket, tightening the bolts to 18 ft-lb.
Add the rear timing belt cover, tightening those bolts to 74 in-lb. Insert the timing belt
pulleys, the timing belt and the adjusting strut and power steering drive belt, tightening those
bolts and the nut to 32 ft-lb.
12
Install the air conditioning compressor, the alternator drive belt and the front exhaust pipe
bracket to the No. 1 oil pan, torquing the bolts to 15 ft-lb. Add the front exhaust pipe, the
undercover, and the right fender apron seal.
13
Connect the negative battery cable and fill the engine with fresh oil. Start your Toyota Camry
and look for leaks in your working area.

When cold, my 87 camry puts out 60-65 psi oil pressure. After it heats up, this pressure drops to 15psi and the oil light comes on. There is only about 70,000 miles on a rebuild with a new oil pump. C

If the sending unit is working correctly, I would say the oil pump or engine is failing.
You can replace the sending unit or have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge to verify.
Its also possible the engine oil is being diluted by gasoline or other liquids.

I have a 98 toyota camry i was driving on the highway and all of a sudden it shut down on me and i got it towed to my house and when i try to start it it makes a clicking noise....what could the problem...

Engine size?see if the cam is turning when you try to crank it, (look down the oil filler cap hole) if its not turning the timing belt is broken. A shop will need to replace it. I recommend the water pump and pullies be replaced, cam and crank seals. If its a 4 cylinder be sure to replace the oil pump seal and gasket.

1987 toyota camry was driving and went to to accelerate when my car died. i couldnt hear the fuel pump so i replaced that and the fuel relay fuse. It still wont start did i forget a step?

Are you getting fuel? Is the pump coming on? Do you have 12volts to the pump? Did you test the old pump to see if it was indeed bad and the cause of the problem?

Hello, ect is "Electronically Controlled Transmission." I believe it works something like the over-drive, there should be a button to push to turn it on and off. Hope this is helpful.

I just replaced the fuel pump on my 1987 toyota camry and it is still not delivering gas to start the vehicle can it be the fuel pump relay?

You bet.

Also check the timing belt. If the distributor is not turing the fuel pump also will not run.

Hope this tip helps.
