Question about 2007 Mini Cooper Convertible

Convertible roof not working properly

I had front brake pads replaced on my 2007 Mini Cooper S, JCW, sidewalk edition. It was in the down position. The battery had been disconnected to do the repair work and now the roof will not go up. After putting the roof up manually now only the sun roof works partially. The roof never gave any indication of a problem before. Please help!!!

This is Sam, I meant the "roof" was in the down/open position. Found the problem, after the battery is disconnected for one reason or another, you must reset the button to the left of the shelf in the trunk. Put the top up manually and drive the vehicle, this seems to enable the mechanism for the roof. Thanks to those who tried to answer.

Have another problem. One of the headlights is not working properly, there is no damage to the headlight inside or out. The only visible problem is that the guts on the inside is pointing downward making it look like the running light isn't working. Bulbs are working and the mechanism goes up and down when headlight is turned on or off. Even though this looks like a manufacturers default but he dealer wants to replace the whole light for a minor charge of $998.00 plus tax, apparently the extended warranty doesn't cover this. Is there anyway you could get into the light to just move and stabalize the "guts" up a cm or 2. Thanks

Why would the battery be disconnected for front brake pads? Did a garage do this? Srange!!!
Roof sensors and switches out of sync after battery removal. Needs competent technician and GT1 computer to sort out.

Make sure that the microswitches in the rear trunk are all depressed. There is one where the parcel shelf (the cover that covers the view of the trunk from the outside) sits on the left that is usually the problem make sure that it is sitting on the microswitch (pull down on the closest side to you so it pivots forward and sits on the microswitch. Then make sure that the latch on the left side (drivers side) of the rear that allows easier access to the trunk switches the microswitch there. now close the trunk and try the conv top. the parcel shelf, the rear access latch and i think the trunk switches need to be depressed for the top to work. I know at least the first two.

Brake pad light still on after pads were replaced.

if you didn't replace the brake pad wear sensor, you wont be able to reset the light. if you did and it still doesn't reset, you need to get into the maintenance system with a scanner, (your local garage should be able to do it) and reset the brake pad wear counter

2007 Mini Cooper convertable top will go to sunroof mode then stops will not go all the way down

Does the light start blinking when it stops? If it does it could be because the back piece in the trunk is not sitting correctly. There is a small latch that it needs to sit on and press down. If it is not sitting properly the roof will not open. I believe it is on the left hand side and it is very small and unnoticeable but that might be what is wrong

2007 Mini Cooper Convertible Brake Lights

Sounds to me like the brake light switch is shorted and needs to be replaced. The brake light switch should be under the knee bolster above the brake pedal. Go to your nearest dealer and get a brake light switch and swap it out.
