Power steering fluid leaking. change hose? change pump? Re clamp?

If the hose itself is leaking (not the connection/end) , replace the hose. If the hose is more than 5 years old, I'd probably just replace it. If it's the low pressure hose (return) and it's leaking at the junction, you can probably replace the clamp. If it's the high pressure hose (with the machine-formed hose ends) then replace the hose - a clamp is unlikely to withstand the pressure and you don't want to take the chance of it blowing off when you're turning.

I have a 2006 chevy silverado with a 6.6 litre diesle that has what i think is a power steering fluid leak up at the master cylander or break booster on the fire wall the hoses run from the power steering...

The Duramax trucks by Chevy and GMC use Hydro-Boost brakes, meaning that they use a hydrolic pump for the brakes and the steering. GM has had real trouble with leaky Hydrlic hoses on all their trucks for a few years (like my truck) for leaking coolant lines from the trans and as I found out today during my oil change, coming from the hydro-boost. These are replacable, but not under warrenty for you or me.

I have a leaky hose above the lower radiator hose on my 1995 volvo 850 2.4 engine,is this a coolant line to the transmission or to the power steering? PLEASE NO SPAM OR ADVERTISING,AND DO NOT SHARE E-MAIL

determine this by looking to see if the coolant line leads to the transmission (bell housing made of aluminum in general) or it leads to the power steering pump (belt driven)

Power steering fluid is leaking out, works when filled. Where can I get a diagram of the system so I can better understand what could be wrong?

You can get a diagram from a repair manual for your model, but you really don't need one. If you have a power steering leak, it is coming from the pump, a hose, a hose connection, or the rack. Simply locate the leak and repair or replace the leaky part. Hope this is helpful.

check for leak in power steering hose by taking cap off the power steering resevoir and than starting car, wait 1 min, turn wheel all the way left and than all the way right. do this about 5-8 times slowly over 3 min or so. turn car off, than observe fluid in resevoir. if you see lots of bubbles after 30 seconds or so, you have a leaky hose. air in the system makes the steering pump groan and moan and vibrate. if the pump is not bad, than change the hose and clamp. just fixed mine yesterday.  also buy a quart of 11s pentosin power steering fluid (green)...
