Check this procedure for Sebring Coupe and Avenger (see Figure 3)...
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
The vehicles covered by this guide are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses air bags. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, air bag modules, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described earlier in this section.
Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle, as outlined in General Information & Maintenance 0 of this repair guide.
Drain the cooling system into a suitable container, then disconnect the heater hoses from the dashboard panel. Plug the heater core outlets to prevent coolant from spilling during unit housing removal.
Remove the center stay.
Remove the lap cooler duct mounting screw. Remove the center duct.
Remove the left and right rear heater ducts.
Remove the foot distribution duct.
If equipped with A/C, remove the cooling unit mounting nut and bolt.
Remove the retainer clip, then the heater unit.
Remove the heater core.

Install the heater core into the heater housing.
Install the heater housing and retainer clip into the vehicle.
If equipped with A/C, install the cooling unit mounting bolt and nut.
Install the foot distribution duct. Install the left and right rear heater ducts.
Install the center duct, then install the lap cooler duct mounting screw.
Install the center stay and connect the heater hoses to the heater core at the dashboard panel.
Install the instrument panel.
Fill the cooling system to the proper level.
Connect the negative battery cable.
