Question about Nissan Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Jerking motion (missing)

Vehicle feels like it misses while driving between 80kph - 100kph on the freeway. Recently bought it so I haven't tried anything as yet. Could be old spark plugs or dirty fuel filter, not sure if this vehicle has an inline fuel filter.

Hi, first thing to do check your spark plus if they are not dirty or the gud its to open. If they are fine check the leads or your pack coil. You can also check your fuel filter. Remove it and clean it first by blowing it from one side and see if is there sand coming with out with fuel.

Thanks for the reply. In addition to this problem, at times it doesn't respond when trying to start the car, could the coil itself not be packing up?

Vehicle missing and intermittent non starting Nissan Pulsar

Hi, when you turn the ignition to start that the engine turning not at all. If your car engine turning but do not pick up. There is only this three things can start your car.
1- Fuel
2- Spark
3- Compression.
If you have fuel look for spark, If you have spark look for fuel, if you have both do compression test.
If no spark check your leads or coil packs
if no fuel check your filter is not block it or fuel pump.
If your engine is not turning at all check your battery or your starter.
Give more information do you have pack coil for each plugs or loose plugs wires.

Sounds like a regular cylinder miss.
Is the check engine light on ?
Its also possible you have a pulley or something out of balance.

1999 v6 firebird misfires on #6 cyl when under load, plug was fuel fouled last time I had it replaced, but keeps missing only when under load. no other problems.

if you've changed the spark plug and no difference, then it's time to swap the coil with another cyl. coil and see if the miss goes to the other cylinder, if it does'nt follow to other cylinder, then I would replace that injector !

I recently bought a 1992 model toyota camry SV21 and 3S-FE engine, it starts well exept that when you try to accelerate, the engine will miss and would like to stall, so just to bring it home I rev it high...

the fuel must be adjusted ,it loses the torque, when press the accelerator ,the engine need more torque when moving the car on 1st gear, compare on the motorway, check for the fuel man ,this will affect the engine on long period

Engine jerking

Hi there, let me see if I can help.

There's not much info to go on here, but let me try.....

Ok, if it's "pulling or stopping" in a jerking motion. It sounds like it might be engine related, however, it can be transmission issues also. Lets talk about engine.

Are there any check engine lights? That may be a clue that it's engine related...such as an engine miss.
Try putting the car in park and rev the engine from idle. (note: don't go into the red zone on RPM.) Does if feel rough and jerky? this eliminates the transmission. If so look at cyl miss issues, timing belt "out of time," EGR stuck open....etc...

If the engine passess this test, test drive the vehicle for transmission problems. Find an open road that does not have much traffic. Test at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 mph. go to a cruise at speed indicated and then accelerate at light throttle and then heavy throttle then coast.

Do you feel it only when applying power? Nothing on deceleration?

if it does it on most of these speeds (particulary at higher speeds) look at inner C/V joint. You will need to take apart the joint and look at the race for ridges. The vibration can happen when the rollers fall into the worn spots and causes a "jerking" feeling when applying power. (look for leaking grease from inner joints. Damage usually happens when all the grease leaks out.

If it only happens at and around 40mph, it could be a torque converter clutch. Try a transmission flush.
(drain, refill, and run through all the gears P,R,N,D,2,1 BE CAREFUL HERE!!! Keep your foot on the brake. USE YOUR HEAD!!!!!!!!! Don't run vehicle on jack stands. Repeat 3 times. ONLY USE HONDA TRANS FLUID. Yes, it does make a difference! Will take about 12 qts to do a proper flush. See if the problem goes away.

It might need a transmission it it continues after the flush, or you have some other problem that isn't obvious to me with the given info. Hope this helps and happy hunting.
