Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

Have 99 Volkswagen Passat and had to replace car door panel 6.5 in. speakers. Purchased 2 pairs of Kicker KS65 6.5 in. Coaxial & 3 way speakers. However the magnet is much bigger than the factory speaker magnet; and interferes with windows going down and so far has caused the drivers window to come off track. What can be done to adjust the area of the door panel or speaker itself so that the magnet fits and wont interfere with window cycling.

When you first got the new speakers, did you not compare them with the original one's ? If you saw a size difference, best thing would of been to change the speakers with other that would match the size of original.

What factory size speakers come in a 97 yukon

They vary. Most Yukons and Tahoes had standard 6" (or 5-3/4") front door woofers and 1" tweeters in panels on the door switch clusters in 2-door models, and in 4-door models, those plus an additional pair of 6" (or 5-3/4") 2-way speakers in the back passenger doors, and in 2- and 4-door models with the premium sound package, they also had 4X10 oval speakers in the rear roof by the cargo door(s). These 4X10's were 3-way speakers.

Front door locks on a 99 passat

You have the wrong KEY if it won't turn any locks.
You can use the KEY fob from another Passat.
The one you have was most likey not the original
and the car was reprogrammed to except that FOB.

The Fuse panel Is inside the DRIVES side.
Open the Driver door. Look at the side of the DAShboard.
THat Giant "B" Shapped plastic cover pops off.

Check the fuses...IF any are broken, black or no good.
REplace them

Hope this helps

Front door speaker

If it appears attached as such, then you may have to drill out rivets and replace with same or nuts, lockwashers & screws instead, at proper size & length. Make sure you use the lockwashers, or locktite on screws, so they won't loosen off. Just pick a drill bit about same size as inside shoulder of rivet.
