Problem for Toyota 1986 Pickup 4WD

Engine is slow to accelerate when up shifting.

car struggles to get up to speed.I actually got up to speed on the highway and its seems ok.you really only notice when taking of from a stop. I had my emission test done and they left the gas cap of , so i drove around for a few days without it. could that have done something?

thats a carb or fuel injection on the 86? i had a similar problem on an amc eagle ....turns out that the timing chain had jumped a tooth,
