Question about 1999 Chevrolet Venture
Hi Mark, I would agree with your diagnostics. If you have replaced the battery already before replacing the starter motor make sure all the connection including the negative connections are clean and making good contact. Once that has been done and still no improvement go for the starter motor. Regards John

when you say car lost power bought a new battery.sound like alternator not charging battery.with car running your voltage at battery should be 13.5 volts or 14.5 volts it not alternators need replacing.have garage replace alternator if faulty because 1993 to 1994 cars if you disconnect battery car would lose memory causing car not to idle.the car will stall out at a stop light or stop sign whole lot.it would relearn itself but the stalling out dangerous around a lot of traffic.

From your symptoms, you are probably experiencing a bad starter relay, or bad starter. These are often intermittent problems, but can both cause it to act this way. The remote has nothing to do with it. I would start with the relay, and if not the relay, it's likely the solenoid portion of the starter. If it's the starter solenoid, then you may be able to take it apart and replace the contacts in it, which is usually where they go bad.

have scanned if light is on. it sounds like a bad crank sensor. it controls the timing. either that or you may have a bad ignition switch!! if no power from switch, then no start.
