Hi Denis, The Catalytic converter can become blocked and if that happens the vehicle will eventually fail to start. I suggest having a diagnostic scan carried out on your vehicle if it is failing to start. Regards John

Can you describe the smell? Inside or outside the truck (e.g. near the exhaust)? Probably a plugged catalytic converter, but let's make sure.

My honda crv engine check flashes when the engine is running

when a check engine light is flashing it means you have serious problem that could cause major damage like lots of misfires from poor tune up components which will cause a clogged catalyic converter or a lean condition which could burn valves stop driving it and have it scanned

Catalyic converter

call the dealer and have them run your VIN, if there is a recall that will show up on the print out. There is no other way to be sure, all recalls go by Vehicle ID numbers.

Where is a catalyic converter located on a 97 monte carlo?

on most cars they are located under the car just a little ways back from the engine put the car on ramps and secure the rear end with a brick or something under the tire you know the muffler is back by the tail pipe so all you have to do if follow that to the front and it looks like a baby muffler then you have found the catalyic converter

Trac light on no power at acceleration

you might need a new catalyic converter
if not i would suggest that you get your sensor checked
these can be a problem the sensor thinks the wheel is slipping and cuts the torque and power down this could be what is happening
also could because of airflow control with the catalyic converter
