Try pulling the engine coolant temp sensor, They often crack not sure why but the ceramic tip cracks makes the car hard to start, or won't start, the car's idle may race while shifting gears, and often smokes. The sensor is on the right side of the engine when looking at it on the head. Easy to change and get too

SOURCE: locate fuel filter, and safety switch to fuel pump

The filter is located at the rear seat, you have to remove it first, then you will see a cap attach with some screws. Inside that cap you`ll find the fuel filter. Before you change the fuel filter you have to release the fuel pressure first. To do that, first find the FUEL PUMP RELAY in the main fuse box located in the engine. Once you located open the fuel door and take off the cap and leave it open. Start the engine, take off the FUEL PUMP RELAY and leave the engine stop itself, when this occurs turn off the key, the you can take off the filter and changed it

SOURCE: will not start and checked fuel pump no power to

ECM B fuse supplies a constant 12v hot at all times to the VCM/PCM and to the fuel pump relay. The fuse is blowing telling you that there is a short to ground somewhere. Try this, take the fuel pump relay out and put a new fuse in. If it doesn't blow put the relay back in and if it blows then try a new relay. The relay may be shorted to ground internaly. Other wise you'll have to trace the wires to the VCM and the pump relay to look for a chafed wire that's contacting metal. The wire coming from the ECM B fuse is orange and has a splice in it going to the pump relay and the VCM/PCM.
Hope this helps.....Andrew

1995 dodge Dakota, fuel pump stop working after the truck it warms up. checked relay what else could it be?

It sound like a long shot but check your oil pressure sensor. It acts as a safety to prevent the engine running without proper oil pressure. When you first start the car, the fuel pump relay is controlled by the computer. After a few seconds, the computer cuts power to the relay which, by then, should be getting power from the oil pressure sensor circuit. If the circuit doesn't report enough pressure, the fuel pump relay will have no power to keep the pump running. It's just one of those off-the-wall parts that you'd think has nothing to do with the fuel pump.

Were is the fuel safty shut off on a 95 z71

There is no fuel safety shut off switch on any vehicle except a ford. If you have no fuel pressure check for power to the pump. If there is no power let me know and I'll get you more info. If there is power than your fuel pump is likely gone bad. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Yesterday it was missing and did not want to idle now this morning it will not start. cranks over but does not fire almost like fuel pump or coil is out. any ideas ?

Check the Fuel Pump and the Timing Belt/chain. Being a 2000 it uses a coil pack so checking the timing belt/chain will require removal of one of the valve covers on a V-6 so you can see if the valves are operating when the motor is cranked. In a 4 Cylinder you can usually remove a dust cover from the front of the motor to visually check the timing belt. A Haynes or Chilton's repair manual could give you some tips on how to check it's operation. The Crank Position sensor is also a possibility. If it doesn't send the signal to the ECM for when to fire the cylinders then the motor misses. If it send no signal the fuel pump shuts off to prevent damage and reduce the possibility of fire. What you described could be any of those things mentioned. Make sure you check your fuses to make sure you haven't blown a fuse on the fuel pump circuit causing your current situation with a no start condition.

Hi. I have a 1990 Ford F350 diesel UHaul with no

when you replace the master cylinder, your are supposed to pump it up manually before you install it. If you don't, you'll have to sit there and pump the brake pedal a couple of thousand times as one almost microscopic air bubble at a time escapes the pressure tube and back fills with fluid. once you can push the pedal repeatedly without any bubbles escaping into the reservoir, then bleed the brakes. Starting with the farthest, usually the Right Rear and work your way up. Make sure you keep the fluid level topped off. If it sucks air once, you have to start all over.

1993 saturn sl engine dies

I just had this problem with my 97 sc1. I found that the driver's rear tail lights were staying on dim when ever the car was running. In my situation, the cluster of wires that ties to the rear tail light is also the wires that tie to the fuel pump. Every time you hit the brake, it shorted out and cut the power to the fuel pump. Test for this problem by pulling one of your tail light bulbs, if the car shuts off or wont start without it, this could be your problem.
