Resetting computer on 2008 chevy cobalt

Hi Rich,
I have reset computers on my vehicles by removing the battery terminal, and then contacting the two terminals together for a few seconds - away form the battery. This should take any residual charge from the car system, and computer.
Wait a couple of minutes, then re-connect the terminals to the battery. Usually this loses the stored stations on your radio, so have the security codes ready to reset your radio.
Hope this helps you.

How to get codes back after replacing battery

Hi there,

I'm assuming you are referring to your vehicle's on-board diagnostic codes?????

When replacing the battery (i.e. disconnecting power from the vehicle), this will RESET your vehicle's OBD computer.

When the computer is reset, NO CODES should be present, UNLESS the computer has detected a fault.

Just replaced battery yesterday. Failed inspection

Seriously! Take the car for a drive in the country.
It has to go threw a few drive cycles (Ign On and Off miles at particular speeds, cooling fan has to cycle a certain number of time etc etc...)If you live by a turnpike take it for a spin.
