That's by design. When you close the door it will inch back up to make a seal on the door and prevent wind/rain from getting in the car.

Likely the cable system in the door is frayed. When that happened to me, I replaced the window winder and it's been fine for years since then.

My drivers door sticks when the window is up...won't open or close properly....due to the window.....The window used to click down a fraction before closing...but, now it doesn' can this be fixed.

These cars have a learn procedure for these windows. First get in the car run window all the way down making sure to hold the switch down not to let auto down take place. Hold this till window is all the way down keep holding down for at least 3 more seconds then hold hold the up till it stops and hold for three more seconds, this will teach the computer the full down and up stops. repeat for other side. Anytime you take out the battery or it goes dead you have to do this for the windows.

98 jetta tdi glove compartment broken off,how to open glovvy?

on the sides of the glove box in the middle are catches. use a flat head screw driver to pry it open. kind of like getting into a locked house door. push the catch in. be carefull not to break the whole mec. get a latch from a junk yard. if you need a whole new box thats easy also. 3 screws inside the box up at the top and 2 on the outside 1 on each side. unscrew and it comes off with ease and goes back in just as easy. where the door stop is( the little part that keeps the door from opening fully down and everything falling out) pull on that spot on either side. you need to do that to get the right angle for the screws.

I have a 2004 XK and when I open the door, the window goes down a little (as it is supposed to) and then rises back up to the closed position. This causes the door to refuse to close. To close the door, I...

That usually happens when you have a loose regulator , which in effect would not set the window properly.

The regulator has to be in good condition for the setting to stay as it should be,

Inside driver's door release catch will not open door. have to wind down window & use outside handle to open. Any thoughts please. Volvo S70 T5 is car.

The little rod from the inside release catch to the door lock has been broken/come loose.

Take out the door panel and see what is the problem. Then either fix it or let someone to fix it.

Locked keys in car

You have 3 options:

A: Use a coathanger to go over the top o the window, bending it down as you go, and bend the end so that you can catch the door handle enough to open it.

B: Buy or borrow a "slim jim" which parking lot attendants use when keys are locked in cars. It slides down the outside of the window and a hokk in the end catches a thin bar or rod that goes from the inside doorhandle to the lock. Takes some fiddling but not hard.

C: Call a locksmith for automobiles and watch him do the second item.

My soft top is not working, wont go down, when I release the catch the windows go down and when i press the up button to close thr roof the windows close but roof doesnt

No doubt your soft top issue has long been resolved but just in case someone has a similar issue:
I started to open my A4 Soft top externally using the door key method and like an idiot I must have disengaged the key before the soft top was fully down. I was unable to activate the opening or closing of the soft top automatically using either the key or soft top switch inside. I then manually closed the soft top using the users handbook and manual tool supplied. Soft top would still Not open automatically and the soft top alarm would activate. I solved the issue by manually opening the soft top fully and then manually closing the soft top fully. This seemed to have reset whatever had gone askew.

Passenger side window (VW Golf mark 4-1999)

Hello, I'll try guiding you through a possible remidy. Is there a round plastic dot or a cover behind the door opener/pull catch you may have to carefully prise it off to reveal a screw. the door handle has hidden screws too? usually one at the top (Possibly hidden again behind blank cover) look under the arm rest of the handle there maybe 1 or 2 hiding. Have you a rod that goes up and down when door is open or closed? if so unscrew/twist the plastic shaft that goes down behind the door card.
The card itself has push in hidden plastic clips all the way around its circumference/outside edge, these are fragile you'll need to prise the card away gently, if you break a few they're easily available eBay for pennies. Hopefully that should get you almost there but be sure to keep looking for mysterious hidden screws on the way through.
Good Luck and A Merry Christmas.
