Question about 2008 Dodge Avenger

Open Question

Tipm I have a 2008 dodge avenger and all of a sudden the headlights started staying on, I have no high beams, no turn signals and no wipers. Called the dealer, they told me it could be both my switches on the steering column or the TIPM. What do you think it is? The TIPM is $600 from the dealer.

SOURCE: 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT Windsheild Wipers,Turn Signals, headlights

If your car is under 36000 miles take it to your dealer and have it fixed under your warrenty. All of your interior electrical systems are controled by computors and sometime not a simple repair ! The dealer has the tools to monitor different switch states to aid in isolating the problem. Just guessing if its a switch or a computor or a wiring issue can get very costly.

SOURCE: No high beams, problem is not multifunction switch

Check the headlight switch to make sure that the connections or internal connections aren't corroded. This was a major problem for older fords, so it would be good to check it anyway.

SOURCE: I have no voltage coming

Had the same problem. Resetting the TIPM will not solve your problem. Your TIPM can only be reset 5 times, after that that you will have to buy another one for $1200.00 + $400.00 for the instal which include the re-flashing.

The circuitry portion of the TIPM that control your left turn signal is dead. You will have to have a mechanic by-pass it or you will have to buy a new TIPM.

2008 dodge ram 1500.When the turn signal arm is pressed to activate the left turn signal, sometimes the right signal goes on instead or not at all,and vice versa. Not the fuse or turn signal arm.

How did you determine it's not the turn signal arm? The arm is part of the multifunction switch, which also controls high/low beam headlights, hazard lights, and (on many vehicles) wiper/washer functions. A lot of electrons flying around there.
The other possibility is the body control module - I think it's called the totally integrated power module (TIPM) on your vehicle. You'll need a service manual to properly troubleshoot either the multifunction switch or the TIPM.
Good case study on a similar problem at the link.

Right rear turn signal will not work.

If it's a V6, 10A fuse 17 supplies power to the steering control module which contains the turn signal switch. The switch setting data is fed to the totally integrated power module, which is powered at all times, to generate right turn signal voltage. If the left turn signal is OK, there could be a defect in the TIPM that prevents it from sending 12V output via the WHT/YEL wire to the right lamp. Does the stop function work? The same lamp performs both functions as determined by by the TIPM but may not be implemented in the Avenger.
