NO, you need not a new ecu, but a diagnostic tool for your diy work.
i recommend you this one MULTI Diagnostic, it is easy to operate.

SOURCE: 2004 Mitsubishi Colt 1.1 Engine management light & code P0122

My girlfriends car has just started with the same problem, a limp home from the garage, a sleep over night and als well next day, for a while... I spoke to Mitsubishi and they have told me the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) is on the accelorator pedle assembly. There PN for this is MN125791 and its circa £88 + VAT. After exhausting all other options I may attempt this replacement and will advise the results.

worked on many Zafira's but never came across this problem, however i would definately test the battery. It would help to know some history ie,how long have you had the vehicle, did you buy it with this fault, did the fault just suddenly appear. If so have you recently had any work done accessories fitted? or driven through unusual conditions. If all the above comes up negative disconnect the battery for about 15 mins this should send all computers/ecu to sleep.reconnect battery to reboot/reset ecu plus other modules.appart from that make sure all battery connections and earth points are clean and tight, Best of luck

How to fit a 2nd reversing light to my Vauxhall astra

using the original wiring and a new live wire. this can be used on the tow wiring loom located under the boot cover at the bottom. and a relay. wire the the new light up and place the earth wire on a good earthing point.use a wire from the reversing wire and connect to the relay switching side of the relay and use the live wire from loom for tow wire. also place a fuse on this wire 10amp will be fine. if you are using the 2nd reversing lights for a caravan etc don't use this live wire use a new wire. most wiring looms have a wire on to loom for reversing light. so check that first. it can handle 2 new lights at a maximum of 10w which is adequate for the new lights. as you have not said what year astra it is both of these should work fine. there is also a main live in the pass side rear side compartment used for electrical extras cd player etc there will be a plug with nothing connected to it. it is ignition control 25amp rating. so a 10amp fuse will be fine on this line.

Rear lights no Vauxhall Astra not working properly

Good old astra ,i have one a 1.6 GT from 1993 ,a flying machine when my tools are not in the boot and spare battery or two, anyway suspect a fault or dirty earth connection in your case here ,find the comunial earth for the light cluster and run another earth from this wire but leave the old one connected just slice and splice it with a bit of tape and it will all work .

Vauxhall astra 1.4 16v Idles fine but will not rev

Some cars with an ecu have a default setting whereby they run but only at idle. Go to your local Vauxhall dealer, look sweet and ask the service people if they can offer any idea, I mean the mechanics not the counter staff who generally don't know a handbrake from a halfshaft.
Or go on line and scour the astra owners helplines to see if its a common problem.
Don't spend a penny in a garage without checking all possible areas first. Like the other answer, it may just be a cable or electrical plug come off.

Vauxhall astra horn

The problem is in the loom in the steering wheel, it requires removal of the airbag and a new wheel loom to be fitted. The loom costs about £15.00 I think.
