What locks up? The steering wheel, or one of the tires stop rotating?

Feels like wheel ANC steering. Could it be not the correct gears that were replaced in the front end

My 2004 awd mercury mountaineer when driven it has a bad smell coming from front end and the driver side on the front smokes by the wheel. My abs light is on always and it has new brakes. What is it

Does the vehicle pull to the side that smokes? A smoking brake is usually an indication of a sticky/seized caliper or sticky/seized caliper slide bracket. Have the brakes inspected before premature wear/damage results

What could be the problem when I hear grinding in the front end mostly when turning, Abs light is on, AWD lock light periodically flashes, and advtrac will not turn on?

possible a loose front wheel bearing or a failed front wheel bearing
the abs light sensor is probably touching the rotor
tack it back to the shop that did the job as there is a problem in the assembly of the unit.

Wrong place to ask

This is a chat room

You ask those questions at a repair shop
after a proper & though exam of the truck

The cost can only come from the merchant you chose

You don't know what your going to authorize or be willing

07 mountaineer awd front end noise more from driver side. Sounds like the drivetrain. What should I look for.

Check the front drive shaft u-joint, and front cv shafts on the front axle, may be worn and need to be replaced. These parts will make a clicking or popping noise may sound like a thud sound.

I need a new transmission in my 2004 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD, how much should I expect to spend?

Replacing a transmission can run $1,800-$3,500
I'm thinking closer to $2800 for you because it is a more sophisticated AWD model, perhaps more. Hope that is informative enough for you.

Please rate me, thanks!
