It turn counter clock ways, there is a tab you will probably have to bend a little to let it rotate, the tab locks it in place when new one is rotated into place

Wont install booster brake and vacuum on 1965 amc rambler and Hydraulic steering

I saw one at RockAuto.com. Well known, great online parts store. Their catalog makes it easy to look at everything they have in stock for your 1965 model. Best thing about RockAuto is they usually have the lowest prices on everything. Do-it-yourselfers give them a lot of business.

Have a 1991 dodge dakota, have replaced everything , still cant get brakes to work.

How about the rubber flex hoses restricted

In the rear you have an abs hcu you can throw way
& bypass, then unplug the controller up under the dash
on the passenger side

Also the rear brake cables won't work for rust, they have to go also

I had a 1992 Dakota for 18 years

Leave the wire off the proportioning valve as the vehicle is wired wrong & if your bleeding it ,it will melt down the wires in the ignition switch (been there) Vehicle is not the same as the factory wiring diagrams

Parked 98 grand voyager van after work, next morning it would not move, acts like its in a bind. you cant move van in neutral with engine running, turn off engine in neutral and you can pull or tow it.

Check for a faulty brake booster as it appears that the diaphragm is pushing on the brake pistons in the master cylinder from a faulty valve in the booster. Try disconnecting the hose to the booster ( blank off properly to the manifold) and see if the car can be moved with the engine running

Replace my master cylinder and booster

ok to replace it is preety straight foward..the master cylinder is built onto the booter (its where u put the brake fluid)

  • locate master cylinder and booster..
  • remove hoses and connections (remember where everything came from) take pics if you have to
  • unbolt and remove both cylinder and booster
  • bolt up new booster and cylinder
  • connect hoses and other connections..
  • fill with fluid.
now you have to bleed your brake lines

locate brake line on front wheel (its in the back,, cant miss it)
slacken one of the valves or remove the hose..
plug line with finger
pump brake a few times until it gets hatd and hold it down ,, release line brake will get soft
repeat a few times ,connect back line.

thats it your done..

Car wont brake

sounds like a bad vacume booster

Bad brake booster

If you know for sure that the booster has failed, you need to unbolt the master cylinder from it, (sometimes you can move it away enough to not even disconnect lines.) Then unbolt the booster from the firewall, disconnect the pedal linkage if connected to booster. Remove & replace booster assembly and everything else you you took off. If you didn't have to remove master cyl you are done. If removed, bleed master before putting back into service!
