Maybe try downloading a service manual other than that google it or take it to a mechanic

I don't have that info because the timing is computer controlled and listed as "not adjustable"

Granted it's too late now, but you should have marked both the distributor and the engine before removing it. Second best is get the manual and follow it's instructions

Want to remove and replace the distributor in my 1997 gmc


1 Remove the plastic cover from the engine block with a wrench, then let the spark plug wires lead you to the distributor. It's at the back of the engine block.


2 Remove the negative cable from the battery at the side of the engine compartment; carefully pull the spark plug wires off the distributor cap so you don't damage them. Use a screwdriver to take off the coil leads from the distributor and the electrical connector at the bottom of the distributor.


3 Loosen the clamps and take off the distributor cap. Mark the parts to align the rotor position to the distributor housing and the housing to the engine block. This will help replace parts correctly during distributor installation.


4 Unbolt the distributor hold-down bolt with a wrench and remove the distributor from the engine.


5 Install the new Sierra distributor, aligning the marks for proper seating in the engine block. When ordering the distributor, give the parts dealer your model, year and engine size. You can order part number A1841639 from Parts Train for a 4.3L engine.


6 Re-install the distributor hold-down bolt. Replace the distributor cap and put the clamps back on. Attach the electrical connector at the base of the distributor, put on the spark plug wires and coil leads, and hook up the negative battery cable.

I have a 1972 ford f250 camper special. I have always worked on chevys so I don't know how to set the points. The only thing I have been able to find is that the rotor is supposed to point at the...


Before you take the cap off the distributor make a scratch on the distributor in line with #1 on the cap. now take off cap. turn motor over until the contact on the rotor is inline with the scratch. The points should now be on the high lobe. If not loosen distibutor hold down and turn to position the lobe, make a refrense mark so when your done setting points you can put the distributor back where you found it. evan if you are a little off it will be ok, i assume you will be timing the motor. No I'm having trouble taking out transmission in 94 chevy caprice


If you are doing it on the ground make sure you have the car jacked up high enough to be able to get the ****** out. Remove the distributor cap from the distributor, you don't need to unplug the wires but flop it ahead or you will break it when the ****** comes off. Also disconnect the battery. Now is a good time to remove the top 2 bolts from the ****** unless you have some socket extensions and a universal joint. They can be reached from the back of the engine with a wrench (a pain I know but you don't want to do them last). You are also going to need 2 trolley jacks.

Under the car, remove the driveshaft at the rear end and pull it out. Have a pan to catch the fluid that is going to leak. Next remove the starter and the inspection cover from the bottom of the bell housing. With the cover removed undo the 3 bolts that hold the torque convertor to the flywheel. DON"T lose them ( special order at the dealer). Next take the ****** cooling lines off or cut them if you prefer. they can be spliced back with a standard compression fitting no problem.

Place a jack under the ****** and the engine. Use a block of wood as a spacer to keep from punching hloes in the oil pans. Remove the shifter linkage from it's slot and undo the remaining bolts holding the ****** on. Jiggle and prod the ****** and it should slide back with the jack supporting its weight and take it out from under the car. You will have to fiddle with both jacks to get this done. Installation is the reverse.

Before you put the new ****** in make sure the torque convertor is properly seated. It should sit inside the bell housing about 1/2 inch or so. Turn it as you push firmly and it should suddenly slide in a little farther. This engages the torque with the internal pump so the ****** will work. Don't force it but be firm and make sure it doesn't slip out when you put the new transmission in. Hope this helps.

I have a1996 chevy c3500hd truck w/454 engine all bolts are off oil pan, can not remove oil pan, clearance problem. Help Don


You could try this. It works on the previous generation Chevy trucks but I'm sure the oil pan still has the same shape. First, undo the distributor cap and lift it up from the disributor. You don't have to unplug wires but it needs to be able to move some. Then remove the 2 long bolts from the engine mounts. With them out GENTLY jack on the bottom pulley or harmonic balancer. The motor should lift just enough to slide the oilpan out. If you don't want to use the harmonic balancer, you could put a block of wood on the oilpan and jack from there. You'll have to block the engine up once it's lifted as high as you can. Use some blocks at the engine mounts to hold it. You could also lift the front of the engine with a set of chainfalls or engine hoist. The engine will have to go up until the distributor fetchs up on the firewall, that's why the cap has to come off. Hope this helps.

Not sure how to replce spark plug wires from the distributor need help please send info


change one spark wire at a time on the distributor.buy new set of spark plugs wires remove them from box.match old wires with new wires to use the correct length to each cylinder.now if you need to change distributor cap.mark location distributor cap.number tag plug wires on the distributor cap so you can remove plug wires on distributor cap so you can replace cap and rotor and put wires back on the distributor cap in correct place.remember change one plug wire at a time so you wont get confuse.
