How do I replace motor mounts on a 1989 Honda Accord LXi 2dr? Am I suppose to support the engine with a jack by the oil pan and if so, should I put a piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan to not damage it?

You got it
Wood under oil pan
May need a long pry bar also
Just don't pry on any aluminium items, trans case
& such.
Do all motor & trans axle mounts & be done with
not having to come back there ever again
Support the car with jack stands & be careful when
raising the engine some, that the sub frame stays
on the jack stands & only the motor moves just
enough to get the mounts out.

Would a prybar be really necessary? What would I use it for?

  • Anonymous Jul 22, 2013

You most likely will have to pry on the engine block or mount in order to get it clear of it's mounting studs. Every vehicle is different but just raising the motor isn't enough to just have the mounts fall out in your hand. It can be a tough job. On the tranaxle mount you may just use a pry bar & niot need any type of jack. Each mount will present it's own challange & come out differently

Ok I have a 1995 ford aspire im trying to figure out how to replace the oil pump

Disconnect the motor mounts and jack the engine to remove the oil pan. Remove the oil pan, replace the oil pump you'll find at the end of a pick up tube, replace the pump and put the pick up tube back on the new pump making sure it's in the same low position it was when removed, replace the oil pan gasket and put the oil pan back on, lower the engine and put the motor mount bolts back in. Put in the proper amount of oil and go.

Need information on how to replace an oil pan on a 2003 Honda accord 2.4l

Never done this, but generally, disconnect battery, and any other items which might restrict jacking engine up. Disconnect engine mounts and raise engine just enough to remove and replace the pan. However, why are you wishing to do this? Leaking pan may be be fixed without removal. Also, may just be easier to pull engine out, which would give a chance to fix all leaks or other issues at the same time.

Need to change out driver side motormount

To replace motor mount on your vehicle. Park the vehicle in level position. chock the wheels and set the parking brake, put the transmission shifter in park and disconnect the battery positive cable. Motor mount is located between engine and chassis. Support your engine whit the jack using 3/4" piece of plywood and set it under the oil pan. Loosen the motor mount bolt and lift slightly jack upward about 1/2" and remove the motor mount bushing and replace it whit new one and reverse instalation of removal process.

I removed my old motor mount - it came out in two pieces. The new motor mount is only ONE PIECE. This is for the rear mount. How can I install the new motor mount?

You may have to take the other mounts loose and then carefully jack the engine up enough to get the new mount in. Put a block of wood between the jack and the bottom of the engine so as not to damage or dent the oil pan.
