Whats the torque spec on cylinder head bolts for 1998 chevy express van 5.7L 350 v8 and it's a 1500 express

The torque specs are available in most shop manuals, but I'm sure you knew that already. There's no need to rush out and buy the shop manual if you don't want to. Go to www.autozone.com and register for free. Once registered you'll have access to repair manuals for your vehicle.

I blew the head gasket on my 2002 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 L OHV. I am needing to know the torque specs so that I can have the gasket replaced tomorrow! A picture would be wonderful! Uncle is going to fix it but...

When torquing items today very little is done with just "numbers" in the process. Now you have to have an angle meter to complete the process so when you see me say to torque a specific number "plus so many degrees", this is how it's done. This is the meter:df03f54.gif Now, Here are the specs for installing the head:
Cylinder Head Bolt
  • First Pass
30 N·m
22 lb ft
  • Final Pass
155 degrees

Here is the sequence shown in picture form:
e8f4606.gif Also, you will need to discard the old bolts because they are "torque to yeild" bolts and CANNOT be reused. The reason: "Torque to yeild" bolts actually stretch during the torque process and once they've gone through this process they can't be reused because they no longer are able to "clamp" the head because they are too long. Hope this helps your repair project.

Torque specs for truck bed mounts

Torque specs are not important in this application, apply some thread locking compound and tighten the bolts.

45-60 ft lbs is about right for the size bolts that are used on that box.

Torque specs

Head bolt torque is 65 ft lbs, use the below sequence, go over bolts 3x to reach final torque (not all at once to 65)

13 5 2 10
front of engine 17 9 1 6 14
16 12 8 4 3 7 11 15
good luck!
