SOURCE: 2001 Chevy S-10 fuel pump circut

no that is not true. i have a sonoma and when i changed the fuel pump it was on its own circuit. the only special thing about the fuel pump is that it is a one piece assembly with the fuel level sending unit. so if you have to replace the sending unit you have to buy a whole new pump.

SOURCE: HOW DO I FIX A P0627 FUEL PUMP A CIRCUIT OPEN CODE ON MY 2005 2.0 VW BEETLE

This is a fuel pressure issue. chang out the fuel filter (near pass light, cylinder with 4 rubber lines running from the top), not the fuel pump (right next to the filter; follow two of the rubber lines from the fuel filter to the driver side...that's your pump, the shiny squarish looking thing, it'll have 4 hard lines running from the righthand side of it).
