Probably a hose, take it to a mechanic and ask if you can get it pressure tested. They will put a cap on your radiator and pump air through it and the water with run through and leak where there is a problem

It sounds like you have a leaking engine cylinder head gasket, the combustion gas causes the coolant tank to pressurize and that is what you see.

Usually, if the cooling system is loosing fluid, and there are no external leaks, the engine is burning it out the exhaust pipe.

1990 BMW 735i: oil in the coolant reservoir

If your car is an automatic there would be lines from the transmission to the rad to cool the transmision fluid. Over time the lines inside the rad have been known to corrode and start leaking. This would put oil in your coolant. You would be looking for small steel lines going in and out that would trace back to the transmission. Hope this helps.

Water leak coming from back of engine. 1998 BMW 318i 1.9

Hi, on these engines they have a plastic elbow at the back of the cylinder head that gat brittle and break inside the head, it may look ok but it would be a good place to start to look for a coolant leak as this is quite common. regards mark.
