Will a blown fuse keep a dodge the coda 2000 with a 4.7 from starting the fuses 140 amp fuse that runs from the battery to the alternator

Hi Kelly, IM AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

YES Kelly that fuse will keep the vehicle from starting, If you install a new fuse and it blows again you most likely have a shorted alternator, to check it out, simple unhook the power wire from the back of the alternator, install a new fuse and if it does not blow again then replaced the alternator with a new one. CAUSION: Please be very careful not to let the power wire from the alternator touch anything be cause it can melt something. Best way is to unhook the battery, take the wire off and wrap it with a towel then hook the battery back up and do your test with the fuse. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website:

Where is the fuse for the alternator in a 2000 murcury sable

There are three fuse's for alternator ! One in the under hood fuse box, F126 30amp, one in the central junction box F227 10amp an there is a 175 amp fuse or fusible link installed in the heavy gage wire from battery to the back of the alternator . Rather then tearing the vehicle apart looking for fuse's , take a volt meter an check the wires at the alternator an see if your missing voltage at any wires . Does the charge light or battery symbol light come on when you turn the key on ? If so you have eliminated one of the fuse .

Briefly installed battery backwards. 2000 Ford Ranger. New Battery, new alternator, but alternator not charging battery. Truck starts on battery-new starter motor. Lights work, all electrical works

Is this the alternator that was in the vehicle when you hooked the battery up wrong? If so, you probably blew out the voltage regulator in the alternator.

1990 Honda 60 amp fuse blows immediately

did you follow both fuse wires,
there are up to 3 fuses there.
one is alternator. if the fuse goes to the big alternator wire
the alternator is shorted inside, (diode pack blown)
that is how i do it.

Battery tested dead, bought new battery and installed it but the alternator test read no voltage... tech said that 2000 sentra has had problem in which blown lamp circuit fuse can cause a no voltage...

Yes. You may check the fuse frist but usally the alternator when it goes it goes and that is it. There is one fuse for that and it should be under the hood of the car. if that is good insatll a new alternator.

It keeps blowing the ECM Fuse, checked wiring but

My friend;
Try this;
  1. Did you insert same valued fuse i.e. { fuse rated 15APS with same fuse}.
  2. Check OP'S & voltage of the Alternator = 13.7 V DC - 14.8 V DC MAX.
  3. are you sure NO internal shorttings inside the ECM.

Battery light shows on alternator after installing a new alternator and new battery

Check and see if you have an alternator fuse. Sometimes that fuse snaps and your first thought is the alternator is no good and replace it, and still drain the battery because its not charging. There is also a possibility of a defective alternator.
